  3. Hi, A hint for you. :lol: A place name and a pen-name/art-name instead of a smith-name are carved on the tang. I do not know at all who this-pen-name/art-name is.

  5. Nice sword! The mei says "Fujiwara Tsunatoshi who lived in Yonezawa in Dewa province, made this (sword) in Edo(Tokyo)." He is Kato Chounsai Tsunatoshi.
  6. Hi,kaigunair, The date is "Showa kinoe-saru haru", Showa 19th year(1944),spring. I am interested in the S/N number of this sword. Please show me the S/N number on the Mune side of the tang?

  8. Hi, The mei says "Made in Kang Xi era,Qing Dynasty".  However, the same signature(date) was also on earthenwares made in Japan. :?
  9. Hi, The signature on the tang is "Noshu-ju Ido(family name) Hidetoshi(smith name) saku" ,濃州住井戸秀俊作. Meaning is : Made by Ido Hidetoshi in Noshu province(Gifu prefecture). He was WWII era swordsmith in Seki city.

  14. Hi, I know this blade is not a fake. This blade is made by Wakabayashi(family name) Shigetsugu who has taught operatives the production of Koa-Isshin swords in Dalian. I think that it is an unusual sword that he made in Dalian. He returned to Japan from Dalian in 1941. Please show me the blade photos. :D

  17. Hi, The shu-mei(red lacquer mei) says "Honami Choshiki" on the left .
  18. Hi,cisco-san, Mei carving by Kobayashi Kunimichi is too unskilled. On the other hand, the mei carving of Ebay's the Tanto is very good and beautiful the Sosho characters. I believe that Kawachi(family name) Kunimichi made this Tanto. 河内国道 Kawachi Kunimichi lived in Osaka.

  23. Hi, I think that this is an important present from your wife. :D Those Tanto was sold as a souvenir of sightseeing in some Shinto shrine at the beginning of the Showa period. My uncle had said that he had bought such a Tanto from a stall in the Shinto shrine in the school excursion when he was a junior high school student. (修学旅行)
