    Hi, This sword is WWII period sword,made by Kumabe(family name) Tadatoshi,RJT sword smith. The signature says "Living in Higo(Kumamoto prefecture), Tadatoshi(smith name)". 肥 後 住 忠 利

    Hi, First,I do not know artist names or history of this field. The mei says: Right line(date): 9th month,1799.(寛政十一歳未九月) Left line (sign): 受真代 Substitute signature of Jushin. The 3rd kanji means [substitute/proxy] . Otherwise, the mei translation is also possible as " Received by Saneyo". I don't know which is good interpretation of the mei.

    Hi, The 4th kanji is worrying to me. Because 名 and 石 are very similar in sosho style kanji. But i think the 3rd and 4th kanji is 切 石　(stone cut/cuting stone). A certain sword dealer in Japan also read as 切 石 on his web site.

    Hi, The cutting tester's name is not written anywhere. According to the Honami Koson's origami(2nd pic),there was an inscription inlaid in gold of cutting test on the tang befor he wrote gold lacquer mei.

    Bernard san, A wonderful collection,museum class !! Did you know what theme of this Tsuba? The theme is "sandawara"(sa-n-da-wa-ra: 桟俵). A "sandawara" is a straw lid covering either end of a rice container(also rice-bag). Moreover, there was also an old custom which serve some foods on a sandawara and it dedicates to a shrine.

    Hi, I'm not close in Netsuke. But this Netsuke is great. THe signature says "Hokkyo Sessai To"(carved by Hokkyo Sessai).法 橋 雪 齊 刀 "Hokkyo" means the third highest rank for Buddhist priests,but he was not a priest.

    Hi, Not Central Osaka,阪中 Sakanaka is a family name. :D The mei says, Ura side: "For Mr.Kaneoka/Kanaoka(family name) Masaharu,Presented by Sakanaka(family name) Shigeichi." Omote side: "Made by Sadayuki,living in Kinan(Wakayama prefecture), A lucky day,August 1944." -------------------- This sword smith was RJT smith. Real name was Adachi(family name) Sadakusu. Ref,[Tosyo Zenshu].

    Hi, Here is a pic of his(Hiromitsu, 廣光) sword tang Oshigata. This sword mei says "Made by Mizukoshi Hiromitsu in Izu(in Shizuoka prefecture) ". His real name is Mizukoshi(family name) Hifumi or Kazufumi or another pronunciation.(水越一ニ三)

    Hi, Veli is right reading. Yes, the mei is Yasunori 保 則 , NOT Yasufusa. See [Nihonto meikan]on page 1070 (attached pic). Yasunori is Shinto smith.
