    You need to turn the saya with "edge" up to see the mon's correct.
  2. Originals. The kabutogana(pommel) has the rare manufacturers logo. Sword made by Kanesada. October 1943.

  4. Swords where sold by shops and officer clubs. Kaigunto seppa with manufacturers mark and Toyokawa naval arsenal stamp. Gunto Sei Saku Jo , located in Tokyo. Company was owned by Mr. Matsuyama. They made koshirae for army and navy and for police, diplomatic and ceremonial uses.
  5. I saw that they didnt match.........dont know to believe it or not. The officers had more than one sword. Otherwise nice to se mr. Ohmura-san.
  6. Tsuba looks like newly made/ fake.
  7. Bullet again , but stuck in tsuba and made damage to the seppas, lockclip and fuchi. Photo borrowed from another forum.
  8. I know it looks strange..The patina is new. Someone has polished the nakago . This is how it looked before.

  10. On the kaiguntos the menuki are in the palm of the right and left hand. But I have one kaigunto with reversed menuki like the katana.

  13. The koiguchi is wrong for that type gunto. The other parts on saya has original colors. Looks like tsuka needs a rewrap. Tsuba and fittings are meant to be black.
  14. Very nice sword. Could You show the wood core of the handle and the scabbard throat? Photos of the leather knot would be nice to.
  15. Its not difficult to spot the fakes from the originals.
  16. Never seen nco with seki blade and the wood saya. It looks well made and I would say its custom made on order for a "rich" NCO Its very nice.
  17. 2 mekugi and the brass fittings on a shirasaya Wrong wood. Acid made hada ,grain in steel.

  20. I dont like the ito-maki. Its new and is not done correct ,IMO.
  21. Found this in the auction: The vet was in the navy in the Pacific. My friend discovered the swords wrapped in cloth and stuffed into the rafters in the basement of the home. The swords are as-found relics, probably in exactly the same condition as when they were brought back to the States after the war. They’ve never been in a collection before and have not been cleaned, polished, sharpened or modified in any way since 1945 as far as I can tell. You did mess with it , cut the thread. Look pictures in auctions carefully , they tell !
  22. There are 2 smiths , one from 1804-1818 civil name Monju Kuroemon and one from 1844-1848 civil name Monju Takenosuke. Cant find smiths with that name from Showa period.
  23. He was born may 25 th 1908. He studied under Amachi Suzuichi and worked as a Gunto smith. The tassel is for army ,as mentioned above.
