  3. Hi, If the sword is for display ,I would not bother , but always handle it with the thumb on the tsuba.
  4. Photos? Navy dirks can have black same. Its very rare to find signed blades in navy dirks.

  14. Hi Brian, We just heard so many storys and seen so many on the web. As You wrote , You are new to this field ,then try listen to us. We have many years of experience. We are from many places in the world and we seen a lot.. Your sword has some issues. The way the ito is wrapped on the handle is wrong, no go. Im sure You dont know that there was made swords ,only to sell to soldiers who wanted a trophy after the war. When did Your grandpa get the sword ? Br Thomas

  16. Im 42 years old and started collect Japanese swords when I was 11 in 1981. I found recent a perfect sword made by Ogawa Kanekuni ,on a lucky day 1981 on ebay for 89 usd. I really feel this was karma. Japanese swords is my life.
  17. The kabutogane , end cap ,looks like a new repro/fake. Same ,rayskin ,looks some how new. Ito ,string ,wrong wrapped. Low quality sword, looks postwar mounted by a collector.

  19. Lot of these chinese fakes has been on scandinavian auction houses and valued at 2000 usd and up. The auction houses has started to hear us collectors when we state the issues. But when someone buy on the web for so much they should learnd to get burned. They didnt do there homework.

  21. The blade dosnt have anything that says it could be a fake! Someone wanted it to look more like a real samurai sword. I will eat my old hat ,if someone can point the fake issues!
