GARY WORTHAM Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Well, with only 24 days to the best sword and fittings show of the year, I am amazed there is no hype, excitement, and enthusiasm, for the ability to immerse oneself in days of the artifacts, of which we have invested so much time and money. Of even more importance is the source of the new blood of this hobby [ yeah right ], a wee bit more than that; and the chance to learn from the veterans, whose knowledge is irreplaceable. You need to go, it will make you feel good, you'll be a better scholar for the experience, and the one's who didn't go, are always sorry for the bad decision. See you there !!! 8/14 > 8/15 San Francisco Gary Wortham Quote
b.hennick Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Hi Gary et al: I will be there as well. I expect it to be a good show for buying as the market is soft. I will be trying to sell into this soft market. Quote
Hermes Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I'm excited guys, i am just 10 minutes away, been saving for this one, i hope to explore how soft the market is? hehe I will bring a few swords for sale/trade at reduced prices of course. http://www.ncjsc.org/SF_token_kai.htm Quote

bdgrange Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 To all: See you there. Stop by my table and rest awhile. Tell me what you have found. :D End of row five with Japanese sun ray flag on table. Bill delagrange Quote
outlier48 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 As a newbie I just want to confirm the show is open to the public. I am planning a quick trip from Los Angeles just for this show and would be very disappointed if I could not get in. Nothing has been posted to the contrary so I guess I am safe in my assumption Charlie Quote
Ted Tenold Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Charlie, It is open to the public. Bring lots of friends! :D There is an entry fee; Friday $15.00 Saturday $10.00 Sunday $10.00 Weekend Special $25.00 You can see the show info at http://www.ncjsc.org/SF_token_kai.htm See you there! b.hennick Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Hi Charlie: The show is open to table holders only on Thursday - mainly for set up. The show is open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a daily admission fee or a weekend fee. The American Branch of the NBTHK is putting on a display of swords of Etchu Provence. They charge $10 to see, handle the blades and listen to a lecture on them. I know that there will be a Go Yoshihiro for sure as well as other great blades. There is a lecture on sword etiquette Saturday morning - worthwhile and free. It will be given by Grey Doffin on behalf of the JSSUS (Japanese Sword Society of the United States). Things tend to close up early on Sunday as people have to travel home. On the other hand sometimes there are great deals on Sunday. People want to go home with less merchandise and more money or need to sell in order to buy. Drop by my table and say hello. I am bringing a bunch of swords and fittings priced to sell. Quote
outlier48 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Ted and Barry - Thanks! See you there Charlie Quote
drbvac Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Sounds great ! Too bad I am 4500 miles away and will be 5500 miles away in northern Quebec fishing - One has too many interests too little time and money! Quote
Grey Doffin Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 I'll be there, trying my best not to put my foot in anything. Of course, all of you not going to the show will be sure not to post anything interesting in the "for sale" section until we get home. Thanks. Grey Quote
