It dose look like it and the tip is Bent 

I know it’s a Showa but thought it added value with the kanji being a commemorative

For those who aren't sure what we are talking about...
These are terms that have been co-opted into the collecting fraternity to refer to handmade or mass produced.
Actually, Showa-to means Showa sword...referring to the Showa period 1926 to 1989. So even Gendaito are Showato. Gunto are Army Swords. Gendaito means swords made since the Meiji Restoration between 1868 and now.

It's been happening for a long time now. Seen quite a few on the forum. No change of legal policy, I think it's a combination of them loosening the evaluations a bit, along with maybe favours depending on who is submitting.

There has even been a Mantetsu papered, the discussion can probably be found on NMB with good search skills.  

 

The thought has turned to include blades of noteworthy historical value, regardless of manufacturing methods.

And because of that, it could be said that a Chinese sword has gotten Hozon papers. :o
