mecox Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 Folks, for those interested in wartime Seki swordsmiths we have done a compilation on the Kojima family (Kanemichi, Kanetoki, Kanenori, Katsumasa). This puts them in the pre-war, wartime and post-war setting of Seki. Answered a lot of questions for us. Article is in Downloads. Mal & Neil 2 3 Quote
Brian Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 Malcolm does amazing and in depth articles that are highly recommended. Along with George and our guys in the Military section, we have a ton of info that I don't think has been compiled anywhere else ever. Japanese military swords are booming currently and the market is very much alive. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 So much reading, so little time!!! Looking forward to it, guys, thanks! Quote
Bryce Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 G'day Guys, Thank you for this. This is the first time I have seen photographs of a Watanabe Kanenaga sword online. They seem to be incredibly rare for such a well regarded smith. Cheers, Bryce Quote
mecox Posted December 3, 2020 Author Report Posted December 3, 2020 Bryce yes thanks, not many pics available. I think as much of his work was earlier plus he did not appear to produce swords for sale or military Mal Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 Map, About halfway through, and you’ve added a lot of photos for my stamp survey! You might consider a smaller version, maybe less pictures, and post it in the JSSUS newsletter. I can give you an email for the editor. They’re always looking for articles. Quote
mecox Posted December 3, 2020 Author Report Posted December 3, 2020 Glad to hear its helping your stamp survey. There were quite a lot with stamps and dates. Mal Quote
george trotter Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 Hi Mal and Neil, Just had the time to read your research paper..ab. fab!. Great work. NMB members are certainly lucky to have such in depth work added to the "Library". Congratulations and thanks, George. Quote
vajo Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 Great job Mel & Neil. I will enjoy it on weekend. Thanks a lot. Cheers Chris Quote
Brian Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 That is a massive compilation of info and pictures on this smith line, and could easily have constituted a great commercial printed monologue on the subject. Thank you Mal and Neil for so freely sharing your research. Quote
mecox Posted December 4, 2020 Author Report Posted December 4, 2020 Thanks all for the positive comments. We both believe NMB is an ideal forum to distribute such background info and that the Downloads file is becoming a valuable "library". I wish such material was available in the 1970's-80's and I salute Richard Fuller and Ron Gregory for their early compilations in English (their first book was November, 1978). At that time virtually any sword with a stamp was rejected in Japan.......in hindsight, based on this I let some beauties slip away! 2 Quote
