Nakago: 2 5/8", nagasa: 8 1/2"

 

Never seen such nakago, unsigned, makes me think of some kamikaze tanto kurijiri. Punched nakago would lead to koto, but very unatural nakago ana positioning.

If it's ubu it is no older than Meiji Hamamono.  If it is older it is o-suriage and not a well done suriage at that.

I would hardly think that a Kamikaze pilot would have the luxury of contemplating seppuku while focusing 100% on diving into to an enemy ship.

Aside from that it certainly looks rather bizarre.

It is however well documented that kamikaze piolets sometimes carried tanto and swords with them.
