    kokuin

hi...can anyone throw some light on this showato kokuin please is this better....my opologies
  2. can you post a pic....could it be the smiths personal kao like kanemune has....just a thought
  3. It is not an incorrect login or pass, as when I make up a ficticious one of those, it tells me login incorrect, so the details are fine, it just has me as someone who hasn't paid yet Brian Ps - You should edit that error message too. receving = receiving and it should say "We have still not received payment..." says the same to me too brian but i have no money yet so not too bothered at the moment lol
  4. ........ i was thinking on the lines of someone most recently signing the tang themselves. ok i shut the door behind me
  5. lol.....am i missing something here stephen my friend
  6. TO BE CERTAIN POST A PIC OF THE BLADE PLEASE
  7. file marks are the traditional hawk feathers design which usually indicates yamato province
  8. your internet signal as farer to travel james......
  9. gendai basically means traditionally made...where as showa is a time period.....of top of my head any sword made after 1900 etc but most traditionists class showa blades to be machine made or non traditional etc
  10. just use light machine oil like 3 in 1
  11. where in the uk are you as they are some experienced members here namely ian bottomley...peter farrah etc.....but alas not me
  12. second that and the smith is very elusive
  13. :rant Brian Me too I signed up and paid about 5 days ago and still can not log on me too but lets all be patient as henry will sort it out as soon as possible. like all new ventures they will always be teething problems
  14. cheers grey......fasinating how they age brass to look alot older....got to take your hat off to them for where theys a market theys a forgery
  15. looking at it and i have another pic somewhere on my pc...you can see the brass exposed on the rim edges and also quite clearly in the blade ana where it had been filed to fit.... how do the get the metal to patina so quick if its a copy or was it a old tsuba but just poor quality
  16. Torokusho is just a licensing process. Those that issue them are not shinsa judges. Arsenal markings would be the first thing they'd look for and a lack of them would leave a pretty subjective judgement. Again though, the sword may look completely different in hand. Doubtful. It looks original length. Trying to justify anything else becomes wishful thinking at some point. you are ofcourse correct ted but.................... could have been cut down to an original length of a naval dirk
  17. if it as the goverment document i cannot see it being machine made even though the tang looks to be poorly finished off which i am most suprised at....could this be shortened down recently from a longer blade as this would fit in to the above statement.
  18. Now, the real litmus test is submitting one your mumei swords to a shinsa and having it fool the experts.... now that would be a feather in the cap for any non-Japanese knifesmith
  19. too true brian...sometimes its takes time to sink in
  20. cheers pete.....i always like to know when i get off lightly lol
  21. saw this on ebay a few weeks back but was outbidded but was curious about it.....is a chinese copy or just a poor quality Japanese one....good or bad remarks please as i say i did not win the auction
  22. welcome aboard...i am no where near as knowledgeble as the majority of the members on here but i love the Japanese blade wether its nihonto or showato...but as far as i understand european steel or non-tamahagane was imported into Japan from the mid 1600 and its virtually impossible to tell which steel was used unless the sword was broken...but i opologise to the traditionists if i am corrected
  23. i have a paypal account but not heard of paypal sandbox and it will not let me log in....using my normal paypal etc
  24. am with stephen on this.....let the teething problems sort themselves out first
