  2. so its an old koto bungo wakizashi
  3. an old wakizashi on ebay not sure of mei as its a bit too hard to read
  4. unfortunately he is one of the most copied smiths around....its a fine looking blade and worth the asking price if you can live with the mei
  5. sorted........... :D
  6. i am not skilled enough to say yes or no but the mei looks a bit different to the oshigata i posted on one of my previous threads....sure is a nice looking piece but buying a tadahiro without origami is very risky
  7. been informed its shoami.......many thanks
  8. just aquired this as a starter tsuba collection from a trusted member on here but forgot to ask if he knew the maker...sorry the mei is a bit faint and its edo period and shoami... many thanks in advanced
  9. would love to have it clive but he will not sell as it was his fathers and like most things in life he doesnt need to sell lol
  10. it could be classed as uchigatana or o-wakizashi but to me its just a katana....maybe just custom made to that size or shortened for easy use in tight places like jungles etc...pics would be nice
  11. may i be the first to start this new section off.....looking for internet links or other peoples swords of this wartime smith please.....as he made both traditional and showato blades they may be quite a few replies......i hope this section proves successful and valuable to new members and beginners
  12. this as a sticky would be gratefully received by beginners like me and also more advanced nihonto fans as we often read about flaws / characteristics on blades but do not know what they look like.
  13. i thik if barry would agree and of course you brian this studypiece would be great as a sticky when completed
  14. well i am into preserving like john so this tsuba stays the way it was made....unmounted :D
  15. very true....unfortunately i cannot tell if oil or water quenched....still i love it and that what counts lol
  16. cheers john....unfortunately the ana is too small so i will leave well alone...glad you replied what i thought was the answer but its best to be certain.......many thanks john
  17. it has the showa stamp and a little kao by the smith in question....please see my other posts on this smith as he produced true nihonto swords as well
  18. i have a nara / shaomi tsuba that has never been fitted to a sword and was just wondering if i should put it to use....if so is it just a case of making it fit with careful use of files or is they a better way.....sorry if question seems silly but if you dont ask you will never know
  19. it is showato by fukumoto kanemune
  20. i am 75% sure brian it is a fake and a copy but i am not experienced enough yet to be 100 %....just need plenty of time and practice and hopefully not a lot of money before i get better
  21. quite like this but odds are its a fake....
  22. just checked some hamons on his other swords and they describe it as flamboyant gunome
  23. will try a take better pics of it but its quite tricky to do... it does go all the way round the blade but i might try and scan it as well as i think jean or jacques described how to do it on an earliar posting
  24. would the learned gentleman say this hamon was gunome or 3 cedars....opologies for the poor quality pic but the blade needs a polish to show the hamon of better....thanks in advance
