  1. could it be yoshitani.. i believe it is hand made because it has a zodiac date on and if its yoshitani its quite likely
  2. it seems this fukomoto kanemune crops up everywhere george as i have 1 katana signed in his name and my kanetoshi might be signed by him too...how good a swordsmith was he
  3. sometimes it seems easier to punch a ghost than to take pics of a blade....just patience and take notes is the only way to go.......and practice

  5. was told years ago that the soldier tied it on the loop for parade and official functions but wrapped it around the saya and ashi when in combat as its more functional that way
  6. good question joe....i think it was easier to stamp in english numerical stamps as they are freely availiable and you would only need 10 punches to cover the the whole range....this is only my views

  18. years ago i use to use fine powdered pumice stone obtained from a dentist friend of mine as a substitute for uchiko...sewing machine oil is great as mentioned earlier instead of the traditional choji oil. i only use uchiko / pumice to remove contaminates from a blade but a fresh polished one i would use a product i use in the motor trade called spirit wipe...it removes grease and oil and non scratchable then lightly oil
  19. i remember reading this awhile ago....like tsuba menukis are easy to take a cast off and remoulded so to speak.
