sorry for just one pic but the internet was playing up here....anyway i hope this looks ok.
seki stamped katana by kanetoshi (kanemune)...this is hand made with ko-itame hada and hakikki boshi....the hamon is suguhu.
will post more pics when the internet stops playing up
do not want to distract from the original thread so i shall only post once.....its silly over here too jean with firearms too....i have a firearms licence and have amongst others 3 large calibre 30 cal rifles which easily exceed 2500 ftlb in power which would spoil anybodys day if they happen to be on the wrong end so to speak but i can be charged and inprisoned if i own or one of my air rifles power exceeds 12ftlb without a licence.....most shop bought air rifles can exceed this limit without modification if you test enough pellets through it and chrono it.
maybe a bit late but just like to say how efficient and smooth running brian and the other mods have made this forum the best on the net for nihonto.
since i been a member as this is the second time i thoroughly enjoyed the banter and free advice and knowledge from other members,,,,,,thank you.
........carry on now lol................
personally i would remove the tsuka and keep the piece as it may be rebonded to the other half but it will have to come off.
cannot see it being an issue removing but you may find the fuchi stuck fast as well as the habiki.
do not force these but i would use a little oil and carefully wiggle them loose.
Sorry...I wasn' clear...I don't believe the actual blade or tang has the royal emblem on it...just the handguard has the chrysanthemum I believe...which I am learning is simply standard WWII issue fittings for a blade.
yes all gunto fuchi as the chrysanthemum on them....try and remove the tsuka and take some pics please....if the tang as loose rust on then leave it alone and ask for advice on here.
i know what to do but others who are more experience than i can advise you better
excellent and most enjoyable read....my first nihonto was way back in 1980s and was a kamakura period wakizashi which i foolishly sold only a few years ago and since then i been buying crap lol

this is a thread i started about my sword as i thought it was the winged wheel stamp as kanemune made these swords too but its the flaming ball kao....it was my learned friend stephen who actually identified it....top man is stephen and will go out of his way to help others
my kanemune as the standard showa stamp and his personal kao....which is a flaming ball
may i also add......i also have a kanetoshi which i believe is another signature used by kanemune this also as a kokuin / hot stamp on it
well said ted......they is at least one good thing that has come out of this thread....i now can put a face so to speak to a potential seller.....i would not hesitate in buying any item from showa22 as this thread as shown me he is a trustworthy and caring seller
No
i think i see it now when you said above i was looking above the hole not off to the right of it.
i think if you take the org pix and crop it down to the hole and not reduce the pix it should show.
file marks are very well done....maybe it did not get signed for one of many reasions. for the time being im going with a nice hand forged blade. what kind of steel used is hard to say other than its not stainless.
ill look at other smiths tonight and see how many let stocking numbers be used on the nakago.
lol......stephen..................some were full stainless and some were like a mixture , i will try and find a link to how they made them salt water resistent
