  1. It's Moses Becerra, he isn't traditionally trained but is known to do some quality work. Guess it depends what you are wanting to polish. I doubt anybody has anything negative to say about him other than his wait list.
  2. http://www.jp-sword.com/files/seki/gendaito.html It's the first paragraph, Special>1>2>3>4>5 But I personally wouldn't use this to decide on buying a sword, you need to evaluate the blade and it's condition.
  3. I don't think Hawley's book has anything to offer than you haven't already posted. I can check when I get home though. Ray Singer has a very nice one for sale and a very informative description on his website https://swordsofjapan.com/product/akihisa-katana/
  4. Yes both are worth about the same in terms of rarity. I would choose the top one, the bottom looks like the handle wood as been refinished. Top one might have been polished but looks more original overall
  5. Any of the names above are fine with me, but to get back to topic I just wanted the OP to understand this is an officer sword and not an NCO sword.
  6. Rinji Seishiki https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/unveiling-rinjiseishiki-sword-1940-a-793016/
  7. RS officer gunto signed Kanenori I believe.
  8. Does RIA send you a picture of the tang if you request it? I'm not interested but just find it incomprehensible that they don't post a photo of the tang
  9. He is on this forum. I believe his username is @Davidarmy
  10. I believe those scratches are from being buffed on a wheel. And appears to be signed Kanesada but someone else can confirm that
  11. No need, it's fine as is and would be a waste of money in my own honest opinion. And no worries if it being gimei
  12. Did you check Sesko's Shinto Meikan?
  13. https://www.aoijapan.com/katanashoju-kanemasakogarasumaru-shape/ A numbered blade for Bruce, in an unfamiliar Kyu koshirae to my knowledge
  14. Have to be honest, this looks like a fake. And if it is real, it has a lot of quality issues.
  15. As Kiipu said, apparently captured a lot from the Chinese when they invaded Manchuria (I believe in 1931?). They liked them so much the ended up also acquiring some more later on, mostly for civil defense forces or so I've read. Do just want to make clear this is a Mauser C96 copy made in China and has nothing to do with Germany.
  16. I believe there is another post of this smith if you search. Seemed like consensus was it's an unknown showa smith, unless one of guys has some older textbooks? @mecox maybe? By the way does it have any stamps? Picture is out of focus but kind of looks Gendaito
  17. Because that is the correct kanji
  18. Sorry to side track discussion but has anybody seen a gendaito by Katsumasa that is dated war time?
  19. Sorry for being vague I meant wartime katsumasa made machine assisted blades. Mal is definitely the guy who would know.
  20. If this is kojima Katsumasa then he only made machined blades. Here is more info about him and his family
