  1. The target for this product is clearly not the average samurai monkey / showa22's buyer At 10 000 $ the case, what is the expected minimum price of the sword displayed inside ? 30K ? 50K ?
  2. Very nice ! I count 8 of them that I really like. I think you're very fortunate to be close to Andy because you get to see the tsubas for what they really are. I recognize some of Andy's tsubas (I regularly visit his website) and they look better in your pictures than on the website. I know that usually pictures don't do justice to the item being sold but it's always tricky to guess what the item will look like when you have it in hands. Thanks for sharing
  3. This blade looks like a shinogi zukuri with the hi from a kogarasu zukuri.
  4. I uploaded the video here if you want. Edit: I used a VPN to get it.
  5. Thanks Oshy. This is the first item I have with this style and indeed it's very appealing !
  6. Hi all, I received today a batch of items I recently acquired. Sharing them here for others to enjoy. I would be happy to know your feedback / thoughts (if any) Thanks !
  7. Update: I received the renovated koshirae today from Mike Hickman-Smith. Will try to post pictures of the end result here soon. Thanks to Paul B & Gakusee who recommended hiring Mike for this work.
  8. The results posted by Peter range from 3256 to 3840 which corresponds to the lot numbers visible here and here. Where do you see lot numbers in the 1900s ?
  9. You can probably get more details by looking at the individual items here.

    Tsuba Infos

I have the same tsuba. Your eBay auction was a real bargain
  11. Just stumbled upon this catalog of an upcoming auction in Vienna. Some beautiful Japanese swords and tsubas for those interested
  12. According to page 30 from the catalog's PDF:
  13. You should be able to switch language at the top of the screen. Can you see this ? Edit: This is the link to the page.
  14. Apparently they do. Login onto their website, then "Your account", "Your data", "Payment methods". You'll find 4 options: - Credit card - Paid in advance - Pay in cash on collection - Paypal
  15. Ken, if you download the PDF of the catalog (253 MB), you'll find the "conditions of sale" (in english) in pages 30 and 31.
  16. This catalog contains a lot of really nice tsubas. The quality is much higher than what I've seen so far in french auctions.
  17. I'm usually not a fan of dragons but yours is truly stunning. Note: the pictures on nihontoart.com are visible here.
  18. This is the first time I can see a steel with this shiny aspect, as if the blade had somehow completely been burnished (with a migaki-bo). A bit unusual and therefore suspicious (to my novice eyes)
  19. Is it possible to see the other side of the menuki ?
  20. A website named katanacenter.com can only be a scam.
  21. You'd probably get more answers by asking in the "Military Swords of Japan" section of this forum. Maybe Brian can move the topic there ?
  22. Just stumbled upon another Masakata when flickering through this catalog (search for "T079"). Incidentally, another tsuba from Grev's collection
  23. If you look at the "Trade and Sale" section of this forum, you'll see that most swords are under 10K $, maybe 15K at the very top. So just taking into account this fact, I think 30K is way more than what most members are willing / able to pay.
  24. 10 000 bucks !!! I consider this hobby expensive but this figure is clearly in a different league.

Steven, No, sorry, the ura of the tsuba is not visible in Grev's book. Hopefully Grev will be able to fulfill your request.
