Thank you all very much, great information! It's very interesting how some smiths had aliases. As far as the date goes I thought those two little ticks were part of the next kanji. Thanks again for everyone's help. Tom

Hi everyone, this is a new gendaito that I just picked up in shirasaya. I have the date as December 1935, but am having trouble as in lost when it comes to the swordsmith. Can someone please translate the mei? Thank you very much, Tom

The date I believe is May 1945, but I’m hoping for a full translation of the other side. I recognize the last name is Masa but that’s all I could figure out. Thanks in advance, Tom

Hi Kiipu, the machi is actually level, it’s just distorted in the picture. I have attached another picture to show this. It’s definitely an unusual habaki. Yes Mike, I’ll bring it next time we meet up. Tom

Here’s a recent pickup that I couldn’t resist. It’s in desperate need of a polish, but you can still appreciate the beauty of this sword. It looks like clouds billowing down the shinogi. I’ll attach more pictures in a follow up. Please let me know what you all think. Thank you, Tom

The gentleman you need to contact is Don Schlickman. email dfsjpn@aol.com. He's a great guy and a pleasure to do business with. He should have in stock what you need. He makes reproduction parts for many Japanese items. Tom -
Sorry Elissa, it's a really bad reproduction. I hope you didn't pay too much. Tom

John, great site! I just checked it but it appears to be generals only. Is the another site for naval officers? Thanks for your help, Tom
