    Hi Brian, it’s a standard Shōwa era naval dirk with a leather saya. You are correct about it being a machine made blade and acid etched hamon so there’s no reason for disassembly. Here in the US this would be priced about $700 USD. The same and shagreen scabbards usually sell for more. It looks like it’s in great shape with a lot of gilt remaining. Tom

    If anyone is interested the Ohio Valley Military Society is having their annual MAX show at the York convention center in York Pa next Thursday through Saturday 9-19 to 9-21. There will be several sword dealers attending. It’s a great show with lots of military history antiques. Tom
