There are 4 kanji on it. Can't tell the first 2, but the 3rd one is 軍(army), not sure about the 4th one either. @Kiipu

John You're spot on about the fitting. Some Yusukuni/Kikusui swords, and Mantetsu, were initially sold in Shirasaya in Japan before appearing in the Chinese market with gunto mount. The owner/seller did this to enhance the appeal and fetch a higher resale price. By the way, this Yasunori blade is legit.

please identify this type94 military sword
BANGBANGSAN replied to Wangzi's topic in Military Swords of Japan
It's a type 94 with an eggshell finish. While it may not be as desirable as the glossy finished ones to some people, it's still nice and original. -

Besides 湊川神社(Minatogowa Jinja),四条畷神社(Shijonawate Jinja)in Osaka also uses 菊水紋( Kikusui Mon). Many families also adopt the Kikusui Mon as their crest. https://irohakamon.c...on/kiku/kikusui.html

Maybe you should read this info about Mantestu sword http://ohmura-study.net/998.html In my previous response on the other thread, this sword is a presentation sword given to their employee. Apart from the signature (mei) containing that information, it is a standard-made Mantetsu sword. They made around 35000(maybe a little more) Mantetsu swords during 7 years, we are uncertain about the exact number of these swords that were gifted; I speculate not too many, perhaps a couple hundred or so? However, yours is the only one that has surfaced by far.
