Tang says 造兵廠-Arsenal This is 村田刀 Murata To , it has arsenal made blade. http://ohmura-study.net/911.html It also called 造兵刀-Army Arsenal Balde http://ohmura-study.net/206.html I like these sword,It has officer sword looking ,but very easy to take care of the blade since it was made in arsenal like NCO sword.

It's not a 500 years old Koto ,it was made by showa smith 岡田兼定( Okada Kanesada)，Showa 19 year(1944) March.

Dave You're right.In China,we call Wuhan Nationalist 偽政府 puppet government，and their Army 偽軍 puppet army,they work with Japanese. There are still some of these Mukden arsenal made 偽軍刀 puppet army sword around in China.But Chinese collectors not really into these sword because of the poor detail&quality,even they're much less compare to the Japanese Gunto. Dave Thanks!I was looking for this photo.They should be Wang Jingwei's Wuhan Nationalist government 's army.They imported some German equipment as well, like M35 helmet shon in the photo. Also,that "應”could be 應需（On demand）instead of 應急（emergency）. Trystan

Didier Maybe it's from one of those"Emergency made"or "Territory made "sword.It doesn't look true Japanese made one to me. Here is some photos from a emergency made sword ,it has"應”（emergency）mark on the balde.The pierced tsuba looks very crude,not exactly same as the one you post ,but kinda close.

The Iron tsuba could be war time replacement,I've seen the copper handle NCO with iron tsuba has Ser# in the 3000s. It's easiet to judge if it's REAL copper handle NCO by check and see if the tang has one or two hole for this 6507 balde.

But.the person who told you 伊 means "That one" is also right when it company with "人”person. So ,伊人=那人（That person），this word can also means lover(愛人）。 But ,not the 伊 on theis sword.

Bruce This 伊 is for the first character of the name of sword smith 伊奈波兼吉( Inaba Kaneyoshi），he was a 海軍受命刀工(Kaigun Jumei Toko）。 I've saw a few his Kaigunto before.

各鉄道局 in here means -All the Railway Bureau in 吉林省(JI Lin province-Where the South Manchuria Railway company was), 哈爾浜市Ha Er Bing City（Capital city of 黑龍江省 Hei Long Jiang Province）and斉々哈爾市 Qi Qi Ha Er City(The second Large city in 黑龍江省 Hei Long Jiang Province). 吉林省(JI Lin province) ,黑龍江省 (Hei Long Jiang Province)and 遼寧省（Liao Ning Provence）are called 東北(North East)or東三省（Three Eastern Provence）,was the 偽滿洲國(Manchukuo puppet state of Japan )territory. That's where these Mantetsu swords prestented to.I assume the high rank Railway Police Officer and maybe also the directors will get these swords.

谷寿夫( Hisao Tani )should have more than one sword,Either Type94 or Type98 officer sword,but no way he use Type 95 NCO sword.

Or maybe the Mantetsu swords' tang has 南(Nan) or 連(Ren) were complete in 奉天(Mukden)Arsenal by using the Blade from SMR's Da Lian Steel Factory? And the swords' tang has 連(Da Lian)/工(Work) were manufactured in 大連鑄鐵廠(Da Lian Steel Factory)for the whole sword? 南滿洲鐵道株式會社(South Manchuria Railway Co.) 's Headquarters was in 大連 (Da Lian City). It all just guessing...
