    Left from top to buttom reads:陸軍卷（Army Wrap）。Right from top to bottom reads?天（Maybe abbreviation for Ten Sho Zan天照山?）and 九（Nine）.

    It's assembly mark/number,normally match with the Seppa(spacer） and Tsuba(Handguard)。But not all Seppa&Tsuba numbered.

    There are 2 Showa smith name 兼定(Kanesada) ,One is Seki smith 岡田定男(Okada Sadao),one is 高橋兼定（Takahashi Kanesada）.Not sure whitch Kanesada here. Date:昭和十八年九月 （Showa 18 years 9 Month）1943,September.
