    Genuine Korekazu?

I am not good at all at this kind of exercise, but there two main differences : - 1st year kanji (kanji at the mekugi ana level) does not match at all on the two pictures - The mei on your picture is aligned on the right, the mei on the picture provided by James is more centered
  2. Why are you all copying me???    -Probably because I am older I shall say that for Robert, Pamor comes second to Japanese steel
  3. Yes, Robert Burawoy retired a few years ago. He was the best dealer in France for kodogu, armour and swords. He invited me several times in his flat in Ile St Louis in Paris. Tremendous flat make of gathering of different flats on contiguous buildings with internal stairs. A real museum, a fabulous Library. Walls covered by books on shelves and armors, Bows on stand with quivers. Once I went to dine to his home, he had taken out from his vault his tanto collection included his famous Muramasa and an incredible collection of Kerys, having told him once that for me Pamor was the next best steel after Japanese one. You have three other dealers in Paris who can have from time to time outstanded pieces. Holy hamon Batman

Anyway, very good article. Darcy wrote : Here is an example : http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~sinogi/ Click on "English" then scroll down and you'll find an Ichimonji sword (undre the Sukekuni pictures)
  13. Well spotted Stephen . When you see the hamon, it is very different from What usually exist on kogatana. Generally, the kogatana tempered part is much larger (I have some very nice ones in shirasaya). These Kogatana have an Hamon similar to larger blades and not to usual kogatana. Here are some examples where you can see usal hamon. http://www.aoi-art.com/fittings/kogatana/main.html

As stated above : Kiritsuke mei: 切付銘 A mei which replaces the mei when the nakago is osuriage, and in effect, the person who signs as having done the shortening is certifying that it was the original mei. http://www.aoi-art.com/sword/katana/07223.html

  22. Magoroku Kanemoto (2nd Generation) Mokume hada (cf Sue Koto swords by G. Robson) was saijo Wazamono together with Osafune Hidemitsu, Kanemoto I, Osafune Motoshige. In fact, an analysis should be made on the blades which were used for the tests. 180 swords were used to classified the sharpness of the swords forged by the most well known swordsmiths (Koto, Shinto ....) It appears that Mino and Bizen swordsmiths during Koto were the winners. The hada of a smith tends to be the same over his life but there are a lot of smiths even in Mino who have forged masame hada, itame hada or mokume hada. Bizen smiths who forged Mokume hada but who could also make swords in Itame hada. You have an example of 2 oei Bizen smiths on Darcy's website, Yasumitsu and Morimitsu : one with Mokume hada, the other with Itame hada. If you want to make your opinion on sue Koto blades kitae, I invite you to read G. Robson book on Sue Koto blades, this will give you an opinion on schools kitae, hamon. Things are never black or white in Nihonto
