  1. I've been looking to buy the right o for my collection for decades!!
  2. Great examples! I love the "fat" Scabbard examples with old blades!
  3. I believe I saw footage of a pilot handing his full length sword back to a ground crew member before taking off
  4. The anchor & cherry blossom in post 29 is a petty officer's peak cap insignia
  5. As a collector of Japanese navy items I recognize the anchor as a smallpin back badge someone adapted. My opinion post war
  6. Great eyes but it still depicts a " long " sword & in my eyes dispels the short sword myth.
  7. Japanese SNLF/NLF did have tanks. Why romance the sword? Possibly it simply belonged to a short person!
  8. I've owned & seen many short army service dress swords. These certainly aren't for airmen or tankers! I don't buy the myth. Let's face it some Japanese were very short! Other cases are short family blades used for gunto.
  9. Hello, I'd great appreciate any help identifying this family mon on a navy sword. Thanks. Jareth Holub
  10. This is a training bayonet. I highly doubt it was captured on Tarawa
  11. Fantastic swords! Really love your kaigunto example!
  12. I strongly disagree unless it's a fiction story the sword is the key piece that brings the families together
  13. As mentioned already, sword in photo with officer doesn't look like same sword at all. I also don't understand how reading of tang can point towards owner. Maybe it's just me. My favorite saying is "buy the item not the story".
  14. Yes I know patent number. So a longer/extended bottom drag? strange that it then didn't become standard. My take is added extra
  15. Yes I've seen quite a few. I believe these were special order?
  16. Nice original NCO sword! Jareth
  17. Curtis I'd also be interested if it's for sale! Yes Denis your saya is exactly what I've been looking for! Beautiful! Regards, Jareth
  18. I'd do a small test. Most if not all products will either darken or change color of old leather.
  19. please keep me in mind if you find a nice kai gunto! Jareth Holub
  20. Why was tsuba replaced & not mentioned on pawnstars sword?
  21. You mention tan/brown. Aren't the army tassels more a "rust' orange brown as compared to dark brown (chocolate shade) for navy?
  22. Brian, I'm a militaria collector. I've been looking for a kai gunto exactly like yours. Beautifull weapon & thanks for posting it. Regards, Jareth Holub
