Hi Kyle Could you send the link, I looked on their website but couldn't find it

    Kozuka theme

As you solved the tsuba theme so quick I thought I'd pop this one on as well. I wasn't sure what the farmer was pulling Type of tiller or maybe just a log. The image was the right way initially

I also found this and it's tsuba shaped and one as previous post. I think I can put this one to bed!

I like the suggestions Would they be grouped together or just a fancy

Do you think this is to represent a tortoise shell? It's not small inlayed flakes, just a trick of the light and areas where the copper is visible
  7. I did wonder that being Japanese if they had a specific purpose
  8. Welcome to the dark (iron) side
  9. Unusual for a museum to add useful information!
  10. Colin just keep looking but I have to reiterate the above post: Impossible to compete with Dale and his capacity to find any kind of tsuba My horse tsuba that has been sold
  11. One I used to own was Choshu circa 1750 70 x 68 x 4.8mm Mine has the same hitsuana but in better condition I think someone may have a go at the mei
  12. Silly me, of course its fan shaped Anyone seen these before?
  13. I assume these are just Japanese tweezers. They are 100mm long Nice inlay and with an arrow shape Any more I need to know? In the first image there is a dimple on the l/h side which didn't look accidental and on the opposite what looks like a punched recess. Maybe nothing
  14. I would have thought the wasp to be of significance

    Tsuba theme

Thanks Dale - 1st one I've seen uptil Jimi-san's popped up Maybe we cand out a bit more?
  16. That's another match - thanks
  17. Piers, I had one similar to yours. The post shows the form of the net to be quite rectangular in form which is different to the additional images which show the normal net shape No images yet show this same rectangular net shape
  18. Hi Luca Generally you have the Shoami school and the variations like, Aizu Shoami, Iyo Shoami etc The variations have a distinctive style and your is not from one of these style. It may be Kyo Shoami (somewhere to start looking) and they can be a similar size, circa 1700 but the side opening (hitsuana) is more of a 'squashed' shape than yours The correct colour never comes out well in images which is a shame It has been remounted a few times which is always a good sign Hopefully someone more of experience will add their input.
  19. The simplicity is it's strongest point - lovely

Nice Dale. Luckily I wasn't bamboo (zled)
  21. kissakai

    Tsuba theme

I know it is a poor image but I wondered what the relationship was between the chain and bamboo
  22. kissakai

    Tsuba theme

I have just purchased this tsuba and I have no idea of the theme Bamboo and chains As it's a quite late tsuba it may be just due to the makers imagination
  23. I tried with a light
  24. I think you may have a winner
  25. About the best I can do
