  1. I think there is a barrier between the castle walls and a moat/river
  2. It maybe because of the cross over of styles with these later tsuba that it makes it difficult to attribute a school. A bit like later Japanese swords which originally followed the six tradition styles. Looks very grainy but that may be just the image
  3. Is this a castle wall and river?
  4. Nice
  5. Money no object then there is also Ford Hallam
  6. I just checked my records and I bought just over 30 tsuba from Peter These are a small selection from Peter. The first one papered to ko Umetada which is a rare attribution from a normally non-committal panel
  7. I'd be surprised if anyone posted on his behalf. He didn't like anyone to have images of his items prior to a sale
  8. I'll try the uchiko
  9. No as he was very anti technology It took ages to get him to send me an image on the phone No email etc He liked to meet face to face to make any purchases or sales
  10. Thanks Lee No problems in being honest. Any thoughts about the tsuka wrap

    Seppa

I watched Fords seppa video before I made mine. I didn't go into the detail that Ford did but they worked our well
  12. I thought the shape was possibly a strong clue
  13. I was told that the house was stripped very fast. I thought about how greedy people, friends, relatives etc can be. Later thinking later about Peter and his love of animals especially dogs and horse it could have left it all to a dogs home! I was interested in a sword because of it's wonderful koshirae and we had talked prices but never mind Just a thought
  14. Thanks Ray I wonder if this may be KAN1479 - Kambun era Any idea who would have made the attribution:
  15. The main details are on my other post. Would someone please translate the mei? I've seen a red lacquer mei before and wonder if it is an attribution Can't see any chiselled mei With thanks
  16. I asked for the shapes of blades as this was the straightest I'd seen. The chart suggest 1161 - 1672. I was interested in the tsuba as I've seen this type before but can't remember any of the details. Same applies to the saya. Cant see much of the hamon Pretty sure it never had any menuki. The habaki/tang has been move forward an inch or so, any idea why as overall it appears ubu. The mei will go onto the translation page I'd like as much information as possible as he may sell it

    Blade shapes

Would someone send me the sword chart this the shape details over the centuries? Higher the quality the better. I did have a copy but that was before my computer died! I did look on the downloads etc but couldn't find a copy
  19. It's something I've thought about but it is a hard project Maybe one for the winter
  20. I'm sorry to say but I have to pause my tsuba sale Some of the prices either too high or to low so I'll need to recheck them all! I'll add a notification as soon as it is up and running again
  21. Chuffed - Well pleased
  22. Great link John - much better than mine I'd be surprised if Justin can't find one here Justin if these appeal select a couple and add the link to the NMB if you want any more guidance
  23. Like Matt I think it best to find a wakizashi as they are better value than a katana as everyone wants a 'Samurai sword' Also better unsigned (mumei) as it is what it is. Signed it may try to be more than it is There was a post a year or so ago called 'I like mumei' which would be worth a read If you can see one in hand hold it point up at arms length and does the form look right as your eyes are your guide. Shape should be flowing with no disruptions to the form Put in a request on the NMB Wanted section I've bought from 'Hintendo' on eBay in the past. No bargains but usually an honest price This is an example https://www.ebay.co....c:g:XmEAAOSwc21kjxcQ I'd prefer one a little older - images are not good. He would accept an offer Just a bought: If other NMB members used this as an example of why they would or would not buy this wakizashi from Hintendo it would be a guide for you If you see on one eBay show the images/description on the NMB and ask for advice Good luck
  24. That's interesting about Soten exhibition but wonder what it relates too
