Yes stop the red rust, lightly, no hard rubbing. If its thick bubbling rust tap it with something thats not metal. Ive see top togi do this so not to worry.

Steve No I did not take the camera the first day and it was gone then next. Lovely work, and mei was like the one in the book. Bruno Pierre has been doing it for many years, when you have that long you'll smile and say I understand now.

do a search here for Kanemune it may be what your looking for...it was (the stamp) at the end of the nakago, not next to the habaki....youll see more in the search for.

I had the pleasure of looking at a blade by this smith at a military show this weekend last. very tight ko choji crab claw hamon and wonderful mokume hada. If you have a Kanetsugu in your collection id like to see more of his work if you'd care to email them to me. Alas it was in trade to another seller as I was looking him up. Hope when the time comes for the blade to be back on the market ill be with buying power. page 71 of Sloughs book for the smith.

might rethink that, it may not come back to you and be broken then trashed. Id save your hard earned money. have a local polish it if you really want it done that bad and forget the papers.

better to show pix of the tang, i dont get a good feeling on this mei. Pix of all the fittings and blade need to be seen. Im think Chinese copy so far.

Looks like a really nice find, wed want to see the mei. As you may well know he also signed Yasuhiro at the Yasukuni shrine. This was most likly done at his own forge. hope these two files help what your asking about.

the small pin with lady on it should un screw would be my guess.

the second is not a sword but just a utility kit, knife and two chopsticks, jury still out on the first, Tanto/Wak, we need to see the nakago.
