cabowen Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Not surprised to hear it was cheap as it is Chinese....Signed Yamamoto Ichiro Quote
Brian Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Yep..a fake. And not a good one either. Immediately apparent from the nakago pic. More study. Brian Quote
jbennet3200 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks alot guys, i just got this as a cheap display piece so I'm not too worried about it. Can anyone tell me exactly what it says though? Quote
Bruno Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Chris already translated what it says. Quote
jbennet3200 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 ah ok sorry about that. Does anyone know what type of steel they used for these repros? Quote
Grey Doffin Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Hi, name please, Your asking about the steel leads me to wonder if you plan to cut with this sword. If that's so best not to. A poorly made blade can shatter in a cut and the pieces become shrapnel; you can get seriously damaged. Grey Quote
jbennet3200 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 no not at all, I'm just curious as it has a weird pattern. Quote
sencho Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 no not at all, I'm just curious as it has a weird pattern. It is Chinese crap, so it could be made out of any old junk/scrap steel... old car chassis, bits of demolished building... then someone took a dremel to it and carved some not so convincing characters.. Hopefully you will display it in the trash bin! Cheers. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 The Japanese call them "Supuringu-to" which describes old car leaf springs which could be and often were beaten out into swords. http://www.google.co.jp/search?q=leaf+s ... 24&bih=579 Quote
