  1. any examples of his mei? The workmanship and materials seems quite different for examples online. Most have no signature too.
  2. I think that would be an insult to the weeds...
  3. HI Dan... thanks. This one does have Koshirae too, albeit needing attention. Will take more pics next week on my return. It's not for sale, a friend in my home village popped these out of the woodwork.
  4. I'm back in UK next week to I will pop over and take pics of the Koshirae. It does have complete set, but most parts need attention too. Will post pics on this thread when I get back there.
  5. HI Brian, Thanks! Yes there have been quite a lot of gallivanting in the last few years!! Nothing better than a good gallivant. Yes was found in the wakizashi scabbard but the tanto scabbard also has a slot Kanji seems to be 乗真 Jyoshin or Norizane ???
  6. Does anyone know anything about the rules for transporting from US to UK in check in luggage?
  7. Its interesting as its in quite genuine tosogu all cobbled together with this lump of junk. I tend to agree on the Chinese attribution. Weird that this crapper is with what seems to be other genuine Japanese pieces. I guess the person that had it just knew nothing.
  8. Last one is katana size. Looks like a gunto crapper to me. Thanks again all.
  9. This is a wakazashi sized sword. Thanks in advance for any opinions.
  10. This is the tanto - first of the 3 swords any opinions welcome. Thanks in advance
  11. Hello all after a long time A friend contacted me that he had some swords that he did not know anything about and wondered if I could take a look There are 3 swords and small knife which is interesting, and I will make 1 post for each so pics don't get mixed up. Here is the knife Thanks in advance
  12. I just heard from Claire that she has reached an agreed price with one person for all the books. Therefore the sale is currently on hold while this goes through. Thanks for the other emails and apologies if you have not been replied to yet. If for some reason the sale is not completed, Claire will be in touch. Regards Nigel.
  13. by the way if someone offers Claire around $2,500 (half price), she'll probably sell the whole bloody lot!
  14. Hello all... Happy New Year. Getting on for a year an a half since I posted this sale and have now had a minute to look at this again! I have not sold any of these books.... been far too busy with business... Will sell individually. Am now back in Florida for a week and have left all of these with my assistant at my S. Florida office while I head off travelling again. Please email Claire if you want to buy anything. (They are gumming up her office so she wants them gone!) ***additional there is a pile of To-Ron Northern California Newsletters that will be included with the Florida Token Kai lot. Anything left at the end of January will go on ebay. Cheers
  15. Hi Adrian, Was it TBS? Not intending to hijack your thread, but we just finished up with them filming the 1715 Treasure Fleet off the coast of Florida, that a buddy of mine owns the salvage rights for... TV prog should air in Japan in January and we are in Tokyo for Studio filming in Dec.... you know the full panel bit, with all the celebs that do the rounds on those types of shows... Sorry... no help from me on the HM, but can talk to you about those guys if they are same ones... N.
  16. Hello all... I am selling some books and publications listed below. I will keep them here for a week or so as one lot, and see if anyone pulls the trigger, after which I may give them a go on ebay. If they don't go as one lot, then I will start flogging them individually.... But not now. The asking price for the individual publications below adds up to just under $5,000, but if someone wants to buy the whole lot, I will drop the price by about $1,500 to $3,500. I will carefully consider serious offers too... PM only please... All books are located in, and will ship from, Florida, USA. Cheers! 17. Good idea... Pretty stupid of me really... I know Paul, and we have met in Tokyo previously... My Shochu addled brain, etc... Thanks John and Brian, will give him a shout. Cheers
  18. In addition I would like to get them to a Sumo stable, to watch practice and maybe participate... Again lunch or dinner with an Ozeki/Yokozuna or three would be good! :D Cheers
  19. I have some extremely high profile investors coming to Japan this summer, who want to to visit a Swordsmith for the day. The would want a private and exclusive visit and money is no object... If that is what it takes and would love to have a dinner with said smith, family, etc that evening. They would be mainly visiting Kinki, Chugoku, Hokuriku, and Koshin'etsu regions; out of the way places for the most part, although likely Hiroshima and Kobe too for a couple of days, and we can helicopter them to anywhere/ from anywhere, if needed. Are there any Living National Treasures that are available or this? There would probably be some serious commissioning of new work going on too! I have never dealt with this sort of request before, so was wondering if any of the NMB brethren had any info. Cheers.
  20. Seems like straightforward request; no matter what side of the fence you are on.... Cheers!
  21. I think some Western people may have difficulty to comprehend this, because I think it is very Japanese... :D Thanks Kunitaro san, your posts are very interesting. yorosiku!
  22. Exactly George... why go to all the trouble..?? is it worth that much??? Does not make sense, and if it don't make sense, probably not true. Cheers
  23. Yes quite, but Mike has a very good reputation for being an honest and upstanding ebay seller of Nihonto... plus he has been around for a long time and done business with many people on the board... Therefore he gets a little latitude, where as the bottom feeding hawkers of any old rusty tat, get a good and merciless going over... Only one way to find out about these and that is to ask Mike.
  24. I agree... clearly the same, Must have been obvious to the NBTHK guys too... probably they were just trying to save face from the earlier NBTHK cock up...
