Widok4 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hello all !!! 1. Long Katana 2.Wakizashi 3. Katana Janusz Jaroslawski Quote
Jean Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Janusz, At least have a go at the 2 first ones. Even for somebody like me (My level is zero) they are easily found with the Nihonto kanji pages. Have a try or you'll never make any progress The long one begins with the Province name and the last kanji refer to the smith name who made it (I am not saying the signatures are genuine) Quote
Gunome Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hello, n°2 : Hizen kuni ju daijo fujiwara tadayoshi saku Sebastien Quote
george trotter Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hi, I think Jean is is giving good advice...please try to translate them first...then ask for assistance. Some of the kanji are the same as the first three swords translations you posted...so try. The translation given by Sebastien is (with respect) partly wrong...but is clear and easy to read, so try. The last one will be hard for you as it is badly written (we'll help you if you can't get it). Lastly, although I have some experience, I myself gave you some partly incorrect readings on your last post, so it is always better to try yourself. Good luck and try hard...then you'll learn. regards, George. Quote

Jacques Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Hi, Quick learning From now on, i will not help for translation if an effort is not made before. Quote
cisco-san Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Hi, Quick learning From now on, i will not help for translation if an effort is not made before. In principal I fully agree with you. Basically I can´t understand why people post the same on multiple forums. This is from my opinion an egoistic thinking, just to get there own benefit or to be sure ?! :? I personally know how hard it is to learn Kanji - it take a lot of time But I think this communicty will help me, so that in many many many many years I will be also able to help others From my understanding the best way is, first try do read it (of course the absolutely first is the willing to try to read it and taking the time for this "project"), than post it and afterwards compare it again with your reading....... Widok4 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 I am a collector of edged weapons, art, paintings. My collection is over 600 European and more than 150 Japanese swords. I am a reseller - Arts, Weapons. http://widok4.pl/ I do not want to mislead buyers by writing some nonsense. That is why I asked for help. regards Janusz Quote
Guido Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 What's the problem with you, Stephen? You're concerned with Mei readings when he has paintings like *this* on his website? I never made it to the swords page .... Quote
Stephen Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 What's the problem with you, Stephen? must be something, as after two or three PMs, one email and one email off his web site...no contact. Yes its a nice nude ...be sure to check who signed it. well done. Quote
george trotter Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Hi Janusz, You didn't say you were needing the mei translations for your selling business when you first posted on this site. I also notice that your English is very greatly improved since your first posts. I don't think you will have any trouble doing your own research. good luck, George. Quote

Guido Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Sorry, Stephen, I should have used the "foot-in-mouth" smiley, but I thought you'd be used to my style of posting by know . Quote
Brian Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Wow..tough crowd we have here again Janusz, I think the replies come purely from the fact that your first post included absolutely no intro, just a bunch of pics and a request for translation. That is the easy route. I think you will get a few better reaction if you posted one or 2 at a time, gave an intro about yourself, and then at least made at attempt at one or 2 kanji. We are all about education here. I hope you won't be scared off. I am sure we would love to hear more about those 150 swords.... And being in Poland, perhaps you can even assist with nailing that frauster and criminal Thomas Pawel Nowak A lot of ppl here, giving a lot of their time, providing excellent translation assistance that many would pay for elsewhere. Can't let it to be taken for granted. Regards, Brian Quote
Widok4 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 The forum wanted to get information ....... and do not do business. office and then I Powel Nowak: http://www.swordforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96794 ps. Powel - This name is not Polish regards Janusz Quote
