This is a truly superb example of the classic wave design in a very attractive flat round shape with dote mimi - what makes this example particularly desirable its its original unrestored colour and condition for which it has Tokubetsu Hozon papers and comes complete with a luxury custom fitted box.

 

I am open to sensible offers or can sell direct to those who know me.

I am fairly sure I held this one in Japan a long time ago and it had nice weight and patina.

I didn't know you owned it.

 

Hospital hit me a doozy of a bill yesterday, but I will PM you about this later.

Thanks guys - yes this one has been a difficult decision to part with as it has everything going for it.

 

There are few soft metal wave tsuba around but ones like this that have never been restored are exceptionally rarely seen. The carving still contains quite a lot of age related grime but the risk to the patina is too great to clean and actually adds to its charm.

Michael - how does one differentiate between this and Hikozo?  They both utilize the tagane on the seppa dai.
