drb 1643 Posted June 8, 2018 Report Posted June 8, 2018 Here is another sword that I have had for several years. It appears to be an unusual kaigunto as it has only one ashi and a purple tsuka wrapping with crane menuki. Special order maybe? Thank you for any information and comments. Tom 2 1 Quote

k morita Posted June 10, 2018 Report Posted June 10, 2018 Hi, drb 1643, I think the sword is good forged sword.I'll look it up the forge of the Seikei school.I have just ordered a research material(a book) to a secondhand bookstore. Maybe a yasukuni-swordsmith concerned to the forge of the Seikei school.(?) 1 Quote
drb 1643 Posted June 10, 2018 Author Report Posted June 10, 2018 Thank you very much Mr. Morita, I have not been able to find any information on Kazutsugu. If you are able to help me with any information I will be much obliged. Tom Quote
k morita Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 Hi,First of all, this sword is very rare, made in the forge of Seikei school.Of course, it isn't mass production. The Seikei school is now Sekei University in Kichijoji,Tokyo.President of NBTHK Mr.Sakai was a graduate of this university. According to information from a book,Yasukuni-swordsmith,Kotani YASUNORI(靖憲) visited several times The Seikei school and made swords.(I don't know whether your the sword was made by Yasunori.)I don't know yet whether 一継(Kazutsugu?) is a signature or the different meaning. 1 Quote
tokashikibob Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 Wow, That is a handsome sword and in such great condition! And with that history it is a prize for any WW2 sword collector. Best regards, Bob Quote
drb 1643 Posted June 12, 2018 Author Report Posted June 12, 2018 Mr. Morita, I really appreciate your efforts on finding out any information on Kazutsugu. Do you think this is a special order naval sword? Tom Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted June 12, 2018 Report Posted June 12, 2018 Considering the top grade Koshirae and quality of sword & inscription, I suspect it was a special order for wealthy/high ranking officer. 1 Quote
