NihontoNewbie Posted October 9, 2017 Report Posted October 9, 2017 Hello, I am looking for a rabbit themed tsuba to be mounted on a custom katana I am having made. Anything will rabbits will work. I would really like a rabbit moon theme or rabbit in the woods theme, but any rabbit style tsuba will work. It doesn’t need to be an antique. Quote
obiwanknabbe Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 I have one ... not antique in the historic sense .. Picked it up mid 90's when the bug first bit me. This close to what your looking for? Kurt K 2 Quote
kissakai Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 This one is exactly what you wanted but no idea if the price is OK https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/tsuba_japan_um_1700/l/160859?aid=157&Lstatus=0&Accid=1719¤tpos=47 Quote
NihontoNewbie Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 Those are both amazing pieces. Thank you for the information. I have three that are in contention now. It’s going to be a tough decision. Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Your welcome Erick, be sure it will fit your sword, one should not file the tsuba if old and worthy of collection, too large is fine cause we can fit with sekigane. 2 Quote
NihontoNewbie Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 Thanks for the tip Stephan, the last thing I want to do is deface an historic piece. The piece you and Jeremiah found last night is at the top of my list although it is a bit pricey. I am doing everything in my power to resist pulling the trigger on it. My wife still hasn’t found out about the custom blade being made. She might flip if she finds two large purchases this month ???? Vajo’s piece is also very nice. Is it for sale Vajo? 1 Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Stephen did all the finding 1 Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 If its a custom order blade the nakago can be filed with no problem as its not a antique. The F/K i sent would really be nice with the theme, i have found rabbit menuki as well but id add a predator of rabbits ie snake, fox, falcon. She only can be mad for a while but it will cost you a new pair of high end shoes for her....LOL Ill as the seller for a lower price in your behalf if thats ok. 1 Quote
Krystian Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 Hi, One more from me. With NBTHK origami. Krystian Quote
Stephen Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 What are you wanting for that Krystian Quote
Krystian Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Hi, Best case scenario would be 575$, because I need that much for Toso Kodogu Koza by Wakayama:) Krystian Quote
Krystian Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 I am interested in all books about tosogu:) If you have something to trade I am happy to hear your offer. Quote
vajo Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Krystian, one question on your nice tsuba. Was something happened with that tsuba. It looks a little different from the origami. The Tsuba is very nice. Best regards Chris Quote
Krystian Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Hi, It looks the same to me. Apart of the moon reflection that is made of silver that was not cleaned for a long time:) Or are there any other differences that I missed? Regards, Krystian Quote
Stephen Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Krys Nevermind Chris, he smokes the good stuff...lol. yes same tsuba, of course Quote
vajo Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 lol Maybe, Stephen maybe. It comes from the photo i think. That is what i have seen... Quote
Krystian Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 For a bit there I thought you might be right Chris:) But the main difference is that on the photo there is sekigane on the mune side. But right now there is no sekigane there, but there is a new one on the blade side. There is also some inlay missing. The only thing I don't get is the grass. It looks different on the photo than in real life. On monday I will make new photos of the tsuba and picture and post it here. Quote
vajo Posted October 22, 2017 Report Posted October 22, 2017 Hello Krystian, don't worry. I think it is the same Tsuba but someone has mounted it and didn't threat it well. Quote
