At Aoi we had announcement that prices goes up. Every blade is different. But no wonder that prices goes up as yen is in deep hole and it only started. Dollar isn’t in great spot itself… Yen to dollar chart: -

Help shipping sword from US to Australia

Below 120 cm should be doable and doable easy. Just check chargeable weight calculator as it is longer item and will take more more space then actual weight. UPS last September sending mounted gunto from states to europe - 93$. Please go SFL Worldwide for quote, 1/4 of official fee. Fuel surcharge in times of war - it will suck You dry. UPS is scam these days. Ask for quote-it’s free! https://www.sflworldwide.com/ -

Ray skin is a ray skin. It's importer's duty to proove which ray it is. If it's allowed to import - proove it. :D I will try later to do some law interpretation as it is aplicable to other species. Imagine kurigata/kojiri/koiguchi made from horn XD. Normally lex retro non agit - law dsnt't apply to the past, but here We have year 1947... https://www.convelio.com/en/blog/blogpost/guide-everything-you-need-to-know-about-cites/ So CITES works like backtrack penalty [enacting 1973]. I'm sure that Japan even as a party to the CITES goes around this convention with some tasty/cultural examples. I'm glad it's international law at least. American common law with all judicial precedents would be a nightmare to keep up.

Sending shipments of endangered species or their parts is strictly regulated internationally by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and often prohibited by national laws (such as the Endangered Species Act in the U.S.) unless specific, authorized permits are obtained for conservation, scientific, or breeding purposes. I went wrongly with CCL which is about items with possible military use :] We are going deep into automated world. New species can be added any time. Some animals are similar to each other. Ai will be doing „first look” at sorting. I found something like that: Recent Protections (2025): As of December 2025, new CITES listings increased protections for over 70 shark and ray species, including adding many to "zero quota" categories, which essentially bans the commercial export of their products, including skin. Scope of Regulation: While shark fins are the primary focus of many regulations, CITES also covers other products in international trade, including skin, jaws, teeth, liver oil, and meat. Just send sword separately in shirasaya? :/ or with expert report? Government is full of lazy fcks. These retards looking for a way to justify their jobs - same with tariffs, majority give a damn that importer pays them. more official info: https://www.facebook.com/share/1Gb2ZmK2Bb/?mibextid=wwXIfr @Brian maybe move this thread to legislation issues? Matter was resolved with sword, only legal disorder left as it is new implementation.

WW2 Naval dirk: fibrous material identification?

Could this be refitting smaller tang? Some kind of field repair? Or just it was sold that way? Many times saya is matched to nagasa. Here maybe something was done to fit nakago? -
I was wishing for separate sarute barrel or pinned kabuto-gane. So at least You gave excellent photo to show difference 94/98. Tsuba is great and separate barrel at first longer blade.
-
Crazy Jim’s crazy prices 14k 🤣 samuraiomonkeyo is cheaper!
-
Could You drop close-up of kabuto-gane? Looks like T94. By centered chuso.
