  1. Hi, Boshi doesn't looks like bizen yokoyama one's...
  2. Hello, The mei read "Bizen osafune ju yokoyama sukenaga" tomonari 56 dai mago (56th generation) + date A famous shinshinto smith ! You must compare the mei with oshigata to check it validity. :D Sebastien
  3. Many thanks for your help
  4. Hello, Does someone could help me reading the second kanji in this mei : Yasu + ?? thanks Sebastien
  5. Hello Brian, Thanks for your reply and clear explanation. I am not used to buy on ebay (my bought average sould be about 4 items per year) and I discover this kind of software with this post ! As you said, it is more psychologies reasons. Now I understand the utility of the sniping site. thanks Sebastien
  6. Hello, I never used a such software, but just to understand, what is the aim of bidding just before the end of the auction, and so using these kinds of software ? If you want to bid on an item in ebay for example, you just had to put your maximum bid and wait the end of the auction.
  7. Happy new year to all members :D
  8. Hello Thanks a lot for the oshigata Sébastien
  9. Hello, For information, the other side of the same tsuba
  10. hi, Thanks for your replies. No, I haven't checked in Nihonto Koza (AFU) because I don't have this book Eric, I already saw the link. I would like to check if oshigata match with this nakago Regards
  11. Hello, I am looking for an oshigata of shinshinto Sukehira in Bizen Yokoyama which include lineage "Tomonari 55 dai mago" If I understand correctly, he signed with 53th, 55th and 56th generation. Thanks Sébastien
  12. Hello, I would like to confirm the reading of this mei and got your opinion on it. I read : Fujiwara kanesada (包貞)saku Tensho 2 nen hachi gatsu hi (1575) I am not sure of the kanji "包". This mei looks conspicisious for me as the nakago looks like soshu den one and I found any kanesada 包貞 in tensho. The blade is a hirazukuri tanto, 23cm nagasa. Thanks Sébastien

Hello Jean, May I am wrong, but it seems to me that the mentionned name was something like "rekko" Regards Sebastien
  14. When smith is alive he could confirm himself his work

Hi, Also my opinion. Based on the hada and the hamon in nioi deki, looks like Shinto Ishido for me. You should first define the period, then the area, and after the smith. The mei should confirm all these elements, and not the opposite. Sebastien
  16. Hello, Have a look in Yamashiro. If I remember correctly some school have massame in the ha and nioi deki hamon. Unfortunatly I haven't my book under my hand ... Nevertheless, I distinguish massame in the ji and not only in the ha in the first picture/close up of hada.

    Kantei

Hi, May I am wrong, but it looks like a shinto blade. I distinguished masame in shinogi ji and sugata reminind me shinto one.
  18. great !
  19. Hello, Based on the dark patina, plants patern with gold I think first one is choshu or maybe a bushu tsuba from Edo period. Regarding the second one, I don't know.
  20. Hello Robert Burawoy was in Paris, but he now is retired.
  21. hi, very nice blade and nice koshirea too :D
  22. Hello I would rather said katte sagari Your saya have a nice iron kojiri. It is a shame that it is in pitty state, because it is nice. These kinds of motches are common on nakago. This blade is not a gunto, but is not in good state. A new saya or shirasaya would have sense only if this blade got a new polish. Sebastien
  23. Hello, I also think for bizen, but I would rather think to shinto Sukesada school. May I am wrong, but shinogi ji seems to be in massame. crab-claw is a specificity of bizen den.
  24. Hello, Yes, it is RaySkin "samegawa",and I woulbet it is red lacquer. I confirm you habaki is 2 pieces, and blade must be Tamahagane I confirm you the blade is the most critical part of restoration and should be restore by a qualified professional. Please abandon the idea to restore it by ourself, to polish a japonese blade you need specifics stones, technics,... I unfortunatly saw too much blade restored in "do it by ourself" that are now dead and can't be restored anymore. hope it can help you :D sebastien
  25. Hi, Mine, that I suppose to be nanban
