  1. It takes a lot of skill and looking at the boshi in different light. Does the hamon run out naturally into the kissaki?
  2. Photos are photos, but Boshi looks suspicious.
  3. Left handed cut, or photo backwards.
  4. You're right, the wording is kind of confusing. When I looked at the photo it threw me too.
  5. Who keeps down grading objective logic, poor soul, or is it sole.. I guess if I was in a financial position of having to sell it would effect me.
  6. If Myth Busters say's it's not true, then it's not true. They have a team of highly trained engineers working on the Myths behind the seen. I actually supplied equipment to their "company" years back in the bay area. People believe a lot of common sense propaganda out of the East for some reason. What this leads to is a bunch of kids grabbing grandpas old Samurai sword out of the closet and doing TV unmanageable.
  7. You'd be surprised how many of us receive antiques that way.
  8. I don't collect Japanese Swords, but the Kissaki and Boshi tell the story.
  9. In quality Art, the dead giveaway is Fingers and Hair.
  10. If in the States Mo https://nihontoantiques.com/sword-restoration/
  11. It's a silly argument but they tried it. https://mythresults.com/episode64
  12. I read it was a Nihonto and a 50cal. TV has done more bad than good .....Ninja.
  13. How many fingers does the dragon have
  14. I'll give a BIG 2nd on that. There was a time when they wouldn't look at it unless the sword had a very good old polish, or a very good new polish. And that means a high ranging Togi.
  15. A contradiction of errors, barrow someone else eyes.
  16. You can see by the wear by understanding long term cleaning esp silver, if indeed silver. This Koshirae has been taken care of very well over many decades of cleaning suggesting some thought of it be of great value, "to the owner". With that said, 50 to 100 years of cleaning.
  17. Once again I state, "Papers mean nothing to ME", "the sword / Yari tells all"
  18. Appears the Shinsa team that will be in America is the NTHK, not to be confused with the NBTHK Japanese team. Two different teams, Two different papers.
  19. Was the NAKAGO cleaned? I wonder why Kizu is many times present near the Habaki ?
  20. Will is, "A Typical" of a new collector, not his fault at all. He has a replica in his "hands" and a good one as far as replicas go. He doesn't have a good example in his "hands" to compare. The only way to compare is the keyboard and that's not the best learning tool. Even novice and some middle collectors have been confused ASP "fittings" . You don't know what's bad is until you have a taste of good in hand.
  21. Maybe I can help a bit. First, I solute the people who want to write books and have the educational aptitude. The issue with print, it's dead, If you're selling 50,000 with a 1st run addition, that's not going to be economically viable. It's like QVC. the burden of sales and shipment costs is on you, If you don't sell how ever the contract reads (there benefit ) you're on the hook Nihonto may run 5,000 and that's REALLY pushing it. Like I explained, this is not economically viable. I implore whomever look into digital books and video thru paid prescription website. You can even use subtitles of other languages,
  22. Ah, very good! "Istinggar is a type of matchlock firearm built by the various ethnic groups of the Malay Archipelago. The firearm is a result of Portuguese influence on local weaponry, particularly after the capture of Malacca (1511)" "China is credited with inventing both gunpowder and firearms but the matchlock was introduced to China by the Portuguese. Europeans refined the hand cannons used in China and in the 15th century the matchlock mechanism was developed."
  23. Didn't the Japanese get the Matchlock idea from Indonesia? I'm an avid gun collector CCW and all. Those operators should have ear and eye protection. Blown out eardrums and powder burned eyes are no joke. Don't try that at home.
  24. This is where you want to be and below $10K, it's local. Nanbokucho and way better price and quality than others for sale.
  25. May I suggest you look into doing a Video and Audio book on your website which can be monetized on a subscription. Printing especially in a low volume marketing plan is way too costly. I've seen this done many- many times and it works very well. This is the future for exactly what you're trying yo accomplish. Thanks for all your hard work
