    don't you dare put that mantetsu in the same sentence and yasukuni or minatogawa Neil. it just doesn't deserve to be compared to them or have the history as the two formers schools, or the quality.

    as you may know, im not that impressed with the prices these sell for. but I can say that this example is poor example compared to the standard koa ishin mantetsu you see. unevan shinoji from tip to tail. evan the mei is abit rough compared to your average piece. for that price you can get a nice emura or nagamitsu out of the US. and I completely agree that the only reason this is on a Japanese dealers website, is to only attract attention outside Japan.

    theres NO real difference beteen a type 32 and type 95 tassel that I know of, but it just refur to the non-buckled tassel as a type 32 as it pre-dates the type 95 in use, 1899 for the type 32 and off the top of my head 1934 for the type 95. correct me if im wrong???he buckle tassel I think was for the 2nd version of the type 95

    looks like the tsukamaki is new?? . and poorly done. also looks like a mekugi ana has been plugged over and the glue is discolouring the binding. got more pics of the hole piece, at that price I would be suspicious

    seems like a nice sword with some good linage. this would a good piece for the Gendai collectors

    or to grate fresh wasabi. always need fresh wasabi when taking heads. jokes aside that's a complete load of rubbish. the markings were applied to the copper habaki before the shakudo foil was applied.

    its very common in early military swords

    its a numbering system to match the blade to the habaki. usually done when a batch of fittings are being made in large groups to prevent miss matching.

    Hi guys, picked up a interesting little photo of a mounted cavalry solder with a very interesting double slider on his type 32 tassel. this guy was really interested in keeping his sword during charge's just interested in whats written on the pic. well beyond my pay grade.
