That depicted Tanto here in Tom Kishidas book is dated showa 15, first month january 1940 without "kin saku" signature it has the typical Yaskuni Horimono

Hello Oli Happy new year to you and those you hold dear...! I don't think that the Tanto from "Nipponto" the link you depicted here is an imperial Gift. The yasukuni toshu made after Tom Kishida's book (page 71) those Tanto, (Onkashi To) for the Navy staff collage from 1941 on, this was Hori Toshihide who was an appointed smith to the collage, had to become ill. The Tanto which was made from 1941 by the Yasukuni smith were also signed with (kin saku) beneath its Mekugi ana. The Tanto offered by nipponoto has a very early date and has a longer nagasa than the others made at 1941 as Onkashi to.! Please refer Tom's book page 71.! The earlier Tanto, (before 1941) which are very very rare, are mostly ordered by high ranking Officers, also according to the reasearch of the honorable Mr. Han Bing Siong.
