Thanks for your pictures Matt. I have no idea why that sword was fitted with a modern Seppa. I see the original sakura seppa on the tsuka side. So i wonder why there should be an open space to fill it.

The koshirae is a souvenier sword. It was assembled after the war and sold in PX Stores to US Troops as souvenier.
This one is a better quality cast. With a little more effort you can make a nice tsuba from it for a chinese replica katana. To sad that it is painted.
