  1. Next Iyo Shoami School Tsuba, signed YOSHU MATSUYAMA SHOAMI SOSHO / CHUKO KAIZAN MORIKUNI SAKU KORE . The oval copper plate carved with ferns, applied with a shakudo rim.A better photo shows a similar cut place where where the fukurin connects.
  2. In my copy of volume 2 are also numerous photo errors, especially vertical white stripes.
  3. Thank you !
  4. See also topic http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/25793-i-copper-cant-help-it/ I like tsuba with boxes described by K.Torigoye. This Gimei tsuba Yasuchika , I wonder what writen dr Torigoye about this item on box.I can read only : Shinschu ju mei Yasuchika , Mokko gata .... I am especially curious about this text as in the picture (5 and 6 column of text). Last is : Showa 45 (1970) signed Saro + kao " round" shape 2 dashes is second class Edo period item.
  5. Hi Ed ! At first glance, the small hollows on the tsuba surface are alarming that tsuba may be cast copy ? Please , show us both sides and rim photos. Mikolaj

Nice tsuba Marc. Can anyone show us Ko-akasaka tsuba. This is the first three generations. The earliest works of Akasaka come from Owari, so there are clear similarities between Owari sukashi and Akasaka or even the greater influence of Owari and Kyo-sukashi.I have two Akasaka tsuba, I think early ,nfluece of owari , the quality of the metal corresponds with Owari quards. 1. A bird and plum (ume) in blossom. Dimensions 68 x 64 x 6 mm. 2. and Symilar Kanayama tsuba http://is2.sss.fukushima-u.ac.jp/…/20011.002/html/00049.html
  7. My paper copy arrived today. The advantage of this album is many tsuba , often with rare themes. However, it is a surprise to give dates such as Akashak 1620 for tsuba. It is a pity that no source of attribution was provided. I recommend to everyone, this will be a very useful book. Good work , Grev !!!
  8. Hi. I want to ask question about this Tsuba ( My first impression was Owari district sukashi tsuba ) The size is 65 x 62 mm , the thickness ~ 3,5 mm The surface has a dark silver shine - cast copy ? Tsuba has numerous granular tekkotsu - best seen in mimi . The theme of this tsuba is Miho no Matsubara - seashore with beautiful pine trees and scenic view of Mount Fuji , the design is rather rare. In the book "SUKASHI TSUBA" by Kokubo Kenichi 1968 I found a similar tsuba . Could it be Kanayama tsuba? Mikolaj
  9. Thank's Thierry , I wonder What does the term "Sosho , Chuo-Kaizan" ? This phrase is found in signatures Iyo Shoami makers.
  10. Iyo Shoami , oval copper plate carved with ferns, applied with a shakudo rim. signed : YOSHU MATSUYAMA SHOAMI SOSHO ? ??? MORIKUNI SAKU KORE ? Many thanks in advance

    Kyo Or Owari?

Florian , I agree with you . Sometimes the assignment to school is not quite obvious. Knowns patterns and themes are large facilitation . Some of points make it difficult to established appropriate attribution In picture below a few sukashi tsuba : on the left is Kyo , right side is Owari , center Kyo/Owari

    Kyo Or Owari?

A similar tsuba assigned to Kyo but also a suggestion to school Owari (http://www.users.on.net/~coxm/?page=tsubaI_tsuba) Owari tsuba, ji-sukashi, maru gata, kozuka and kogai hitsu ana, maru mimi, 8.1 x 7.9 x 0.4 cm, design of eight blossoms of kiri (paulownia) which was the mon of several old clans. Probably late Muromachi to early Edo period.
  13. payment sent .
  14. Hi Markus ! One printed colour copy for me , please
  15. Hi,James ! This tsuba looks like for later Akasaka school . Below photo - your and similar Akasaka tsuba around middle Edo.
  16. Original signature in the picture below
  17. I think this mei is : SURUGA SADASHIGE SAKU .
  18. Four sakashi tsuba , nice openwork : Owari and Kyo .
  19. Thank you! This is my new acquisition. There is a picture below of the tsuba in the box . The tsuba of the box does not look for me on the Yagyu. Similar compositions and small sukashi notches in the form of clouds reminiscent of the work of Nobuie and Yamakichibei . Perhaps hako-gaki refers to another tsuba?
  20. Owari sukashi tsuba
  21. Tsuba signed: Tosa Kuni Ju Myochin Ki Toshio and Hako-Gaki by dr K.Torigoye (page 33 "Tsuba Kanshoki" K.Torigoye )
