Kantei Section For The Raffle "who Wants To Win A Nihonto"
Jean replied to a topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Too difficult :LOL Kantei one : Shinshinto : Sekido Unju Korekazu. Difficult to say as a lot of Shinshinto smiths tried try to copy Bizen, Pros: the Yasurime Cons: the nioiguchi is not as thick as it could be and the choji hamon is less tight. Kantei 2 : I won’t go for Tadayoshi school because of the yasurime. The yasurime is usually yoko or sujikai without any keicho yasuri. For the same reason, I shall avoid sue Tegai. I don’t know perhaps Kunisada. Kantei 3 : picture is less good (too bright, less contrast), can’t see the kissaki, but I’ll go for Rai Kuniyuki -
Unpapered Natsuo, belonging to a Japanese, maybe Christmas before time but I doubt, but I am always skeptical since my childhood when I saw my parents putting so-called Santa’s gifts at the foot of the Christmas tree.
-
Patrick, It was easy for the school as its papered twin was for sale a few month ago on yahoo Japan auction. It sold for a higher amount. Measurement: 7,85 cm Btw, the iron is better than the one you posted... it is smooth

Thanks Greg, he has passed it slowly with a lot of hugs and kisses. Here is a picture I have just taken on his homemade hospital bed. He does not walk anymore. He is like a baby. By the way, here is another tortoise crane tsuba : http://www.tsuruginoya.com/mn1_3/f00089.html

Kantei Section For The Raffle "who Wants To Win A Nihonto"

It is one kantei session with 3 swords .... -
Right, Grey. I did not even noticed the scabbard when looking at the picture, I was focussed on the nakago and you can easily skip the koshirae as there is no contrast between it and its back ground. Definitely Chinese....
-
John, Your pictures are very uncomplete. You should provide pictures of the kissaki at least and if possible a few of the blade. One cannot say if it is Chinese for sure but the nakago is at the least very unusual for a Showa blade, the carved date is unheard of on a nihonto (never saw one like this on forty years collecting) and the mei is inscribed in an unknown alphabet. Can be a genuine Japanese sword with a shortened nakago on which some one has engraved a gibberish date and signature to add some value...But nothing more can be said with your pictures.

Arnold is right, I’ve got a set of measured support stockings for long flight Nº3, it helps a lot.

Swimming Brian and not walking. Only JC was able to walk on water...

Tim, Have a look at the real thing: https://www.aoijapan.com/fittings/tsuba/ The tsuba you posted are very crude, clumsily made.

Here are two Yamakichibei tsuba which gives me wabi-sabi feeling. I think that give someone wabi-sabi feeling is better than described something being wabi-sabi as it is a personnel feeling and that a tsuba may be wabi-sabi for somebody but not for another one. Wabi-sabi is all the more difficult to describe that it is a combination of two concepts, combination which much appeal to someone, I mean by this that both concepts wabi and sabi must appeal to somebody to be named wabi-sabi. Even much more complicated to define than art.

Wasn’t this one for sale at Tsuruginoya a few years ago? https://www.aoijapan.com/kogai-mumei-ko-mino34th-nbthk-juyo-paper/

Your Opinion About This Tsuba And Fuchi Kashira Soten School ?
Jean replied to Christophe's topic in Tosogu
Fuchi/kashira - Tsuba: Mogarashi Soten Sei. Soten school is one of the most prolific school with warriors theme, copied with more or less success by hundred artisans. Yours are not bad, I’ll say medium/regular. I have seen a lot worse Have a look at this koshirae: https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-kawachi-kami-kunisuke-second-generationnaka-kawachi/ -
You are right Stephen, but the Vet told us he was tough and not suffering . Coming back late after the Vet tonight, we put the box on the floor and he went out walking on his own. He had not walked for two days... he has found a balance between all his physical problems waiting for his end, he weights 3kgs and has lost 1,4 kg. Example of his disorders balance, his creatinine rate is at 74, starting 25, generally cats stop eating, as he is suffering from hyperthyroidism, he eats for 3 cats (but cannot put on weight). Edit to add Tsuba # 1 is sold.

A few pictures of tsuba 3 Edit to add, I had pm from members interested in some of these tsuba. First one paying, first one getting
