  1. Thanks a lot, I've waiting for pictures for a while, NMB members attending the show, should take pictures and post them under Ban penalty
  2. My Naoe Shizu costs me in Kodogu about 3Keuros ... Nice stuff, Goto style menuki, F/K shishi with waterfall, futatokoromono (Kogai/Kozuka), then the making of the Koshirae (from scratch): 2keuros ====> 5K€
  3. Hi John, Over the centuries, in France, we have oversimplified this doctrine. Being Manichean means it is either black or white (there is no grey). The alternative is "yes" or "no" without any room for "perhaps"
  4. Gilles, I'll do my best, believe me. :D :D
  5. Sorry Guido , but you misread Jacques' post
  6. See you next month at our semestrial meeting - maybe I'll bring my new purchase which will cure you from this addiction
  7. Hi Gilles, You're going to loose your interest in Shinshinto swords
  8. Same in France, legal as long as you don't walk around under the aka Zatoichi
  9. Without facing a firing squad or the undertakers, is breathing allowed/legal in California?
  10. Bruno wrote : Hi Bruno, You have all your life to decide what to do, never act in a hurry. You have to be fully satisfied of your deal, in case of doubt, don't do it, that's a rule of thumb. Your questions about the bent kissaki shows your lack of basic knowledge about Nihonto. As, in fine, you'll be the only one to take the final decision, you must read basic books in order to understand the way a sword is forged, what are the current defaults to be encountered. Asking anyone advice is a way to feel secure, but you must rely first on your own judgement
  11. I thought Nindja was his first name :?
  12. Thanks Grey
  13. Sorry, 100% fake Chinese blade, clumsy ito, F/K brand new, etched bar of steel ...
  14. Is NBTHK much more in use/court in Nihonto business than NTHK : judging by the certificates provided with on sale swords I should say : Yes undoubtedly. But Why? I have never seen on the web a Nihonto with a yushu saku certificate on sale (or I don't remember). Is it reserved to connoisseurs? Is the selection more drastic? Guido/Ted/Moriyama san/Reinhard what is your opinion on this?
  15. Guido, you know, we, French, are very affective.
  16. Urban Legend

  19. No way, forget it this topic has been already raised several time and the reasonable answer is "No way to send it back to the previous owner"

    KOZUKA

Here is another one for artistic analysis, even school if possible, very very educative post on the Kodogu section lately with Ford comments : In fact the base is more greyish than the picture and the moon is silverish. One comment : How come both scan and camera pictures give a brown background even to the moon compare to the colour I can perceive with my eyes?
  22. Jon, The real question is : what is a decent blade, taking into account the school, the era ....
  23. As textbook, I have seen a lot of Japanese similar attempts so I would not put the blame on Westerners (In fact I even got one but I was buying the blade). If not convinced, just have a look at some NMB topics about Japanese swords at e-bay auctions.
  24. first futatokoromono I have seen of this kind : Tsuba/nakago ....
