  1. BTW: Has anyone heard of Eiju? Thanks Dennis
  2. Thanks Done and convinced! dennis
  3. Hello everyone re Tsuba Ethics I am considering mounting this tsuba on a sword ... my question is: The nakago ana is too small for the sword. Making the ana larger will probably lose some of the mei (vertically needs 2.5mm more and horizontally needs 2mm wider at the bottom of the ana and 1mm wider in the middle of the ana) I paid $400 at an estate sale and in my twisted way of thinking, if it was a $4000 tsuba i would not consider modifying it, but as a $400 tsuba maybe it's OK ??? another question: Anyone know if I guessed correctly which side is Omote? Info I received about this tsuba: Made by Eiju in the late 1800's. It is a special custom made tsuba made for a Samurai by another Samurai. Thank You for any help!
  4. I'm interested in commissioning a Tosogu set. I've found someone at Tagane Arts .. although he is re-doing the website and I can't find his name He learned from Ford Hallum but Ford doesn't have any sword parts on his site Has anyone done business with these guys? Any other recommendations? Thank You Dennis Long
  5. I have been told that sword canes are illegal in California. and illegal in Japan? Anyone have any info on this? Thanks Dennis
  6. Thank You everyone! with your assistance I have figured it out ... The round tag and the rectangular tag were from two different swords and mistakenly both attached to one sword ... "Second pic:Shinto Fudo Myoou katakiriha" The rectangular tag belongs with my sword ... there is a Fudo Myo bonji engraved on the sword .. I will post some pics when I can Thank You again
  7. This kogai is with a 15" wak I recently obtained. The mon on the fittings (F,K,menuki) appears to be crossed keys. Thank You
  8. These came with a Wakizashi I was lucky to find. Any help translating will be appreciated. hopefully the pics attached? It seems the pics did not attach. convert to jpg and try again. HooRay !!! jpg works. Thank You for any help
  9. Right and left-handed iaidoka wear the sword on their left side. For the initial cut, the sword is in the right hand, BUT, the left hand is JUST (some say more) as important as the right. In iaido, the saya is removed from the blade, not the sword taken from the saya, left and right sides of the body are equally important. My teacher (22 years of practice) asked his Sensei when he first started, if being left-handed would be a disadvantage, Sensei told him that it is an advantage. btw: the overhead cut is done with both hands, with the left hand providing 80% of the power.

Hi; Thank You ! Does this imply that the tsuba was made for this sword, or at the same time as the sword ? Thanks again Dennis Long
