  1. Thank you Chris for your interest but having the tsuba in hands I think horses are original with the plate.The mix of techniques make me think Nara school but i am not that sure.

  3. I purchased this tsuba some years ago as a Nara school one. But the more I look at the katakiri pine trees the more I think it might be from the Hamano school. What are your thoughts? Thank you

    Tsuba dilemma

    From my perspective, the mei is a part of the tsuba history. Someone (who?) found this tsuba nice enough to have a well know signature (for money of course).I am very often in the same situation with tsuba in my collection and if I purchased them, it is because they appelead to me. I would keep this tsuba as it is.

  11. From very first researches, I think artist name is Ichinomya Nagayoshi (一宮長義). Kao on Shosankenshu from Henry L. Joly's fully fits mine.

    In term of comparison with mine which is similar but without Kogai and Kozuka ana. Diameter is 10,50 cm.

  23. I have this small tanto tsuba signed Terutsugu zo (Yokoya school). I was wandering the name of the technic of the ground metal which looks like ishime on silver. What are you views? What is the name of a "mei" on a plate (shakudo) which is added on the tsuba ? Thank you for you information
