  1. If you're worried about gun laws and such come to Arkansas. When you get off the plane the first thing we ask is "do you have a gun?" If you say no we say "here. Take mine until you get settled." Automatics are a little harder. You have to get a deer hunting licence for one of those.
  2. Welcome Steven!
  3. You sound like my father on the first response. He sold me my first car for $175.00 he paid $125.00. Well yeah I paid it. And I'd pay whatever to get a genuine Ford. If only I could afford it. As for the riddle I think I'm right about that one. The certain time is the time it takes to line up the next shot. I love ya man!
  4. Jean; I haven't looked at the spoilers yet sooo... looking at Fords prices seems a little unfair as he is the best there is. My best guess is around 1k. Maybe a bit less. As for the riddle. I'm going to bet that it takes as long to cool off as it takes to pull the trigger again. Now I'm going to go back and check out the spoilers so if you see some edits to this post... *cough*
  5. What the heck? I'll take a shot. I like the koshira but it looks like it was cobbled together. I could be, and often am, wrong but doesn't look like a set. Other than it looks well cut I can't really say anything about the mei. It does look suriage so it's possible it was cut down for WWII. Now to the blade... man! It has suffered that's for sure. Looks like it was used to hack down a shed or something. I doubt if it's worth anything in this condition and polishing would be a huge, expensive risk. Unless the mei is real and from a really good smith the odds of a collector wanting it is small. If you only paid a couple hundred for it *shrug* not really much downside. I look forward to seeing what the mei says. And reserve the right to change my opinion at any time. :D
  6. New knowledge. Thank you friend! Now no one has asked but even as a modern tsuba, what would you value this at? Please PM me if you're not comfortable saying in general. Thanks again!
  7. John, would someone this talented really make a tsuba this fantastic this freaking beautiful and not sign it? Surely you sign all of yours? Just wondering.
  8. Oh my God it's Doctor Stein! Quick! Get him!
  9. That is a gorgeous hamon.
  10. Does red rust form over black? Just a guess but maybe it got wet at some point?
  11. You could always buy from someone here...
  12. Thanks Chris. I'm currently paying for a koto katana and wak from people on the board. I'll not be buying from ebay anytime soon. I just really liked the hamon.

    Sa signed blade

:dope smacks self: Well of course. Thanks Chris.
  14. This looks pretty good to me. What am I missing? I really like the part of the hamon that looks like Mount Fuji. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SA321-Japanese- ... 20ee40e4fa

    Sa signed blade

More pics of the blade please and a few stats length etc... btw one of the first things I learned on this site was there are several more Sa's than just THE Sa. I wonder if any of those have been removed as gimei. Also I am not able to judge a signature by the sword, so... yeah.
  16. Welcome Maath! Please remember to sign your posts with at least a first name. If you don't I'm sure someone will gently remind you.
  17. ???? Oh! I actually know this one! Not the tsuba the dragon.
  18. both great at that price!
  19. It's like watching giants play chess.
  20. That. Is very cool. What's the signature?

    Casting vs Carving

It may be a silly question... But not really an invalid one. Yes making a mold is much more labor intensive still you don't have to use it just once. Having said that I don't for a moment believe that edo or earlier tsuba are cast. I just think that asking the question and stating assumptions are just part of the learning curve. And Kevin? I bow to your expertise. Honestly.
  22. The one who polished one of mine did a pretty poor job. I'd like to turn Brian loose on him with that trout!
  23. Glad I could help. Good luck with future purchases! Your sword is out there. It'll find you.
