Ack! I'm an idiot! Of course muromachi is a period and not a smith. My bowels are aching with shame. Also the guy hitting multiple brick walls... You may want to think about an MRI or straight jacket neighbor. Just saying.

I can't find this smith in Hawleys. A little help?
  5. gotcha guys. sorry. will close this thread.

  7. daimyoueb is not the same person as daimyou. As far as I can tell everything they sell is fake.
  8. I hate to admit it but one of the katanas I bought from him (though gimei) was described as edo. It was actually a lot older than that and is my pride and joy. Covered with utsuri, well made and yes, tired it's still the best piece I ever got. He's not selling anymore. Someone took over his name, but if you wait and watch carefully you just might find a treasure for cheap. That being said. BE CAREFUL!
  9. Simply and utterly fantastic.
  10. anything koto that I can afford or afford with trade. I have a decent couple of tsuba and a few hundred dollars. *shrug* Hey. It's worth a shot.
  11. hmmm... suppose i sent it to you? Shinsa lite?
  12. Where and when is a shinsa in the US this year?
  13. Joe, Jean and Sanjuro. Three people who I've talked to over the years and offered me advice and now I have lost any respect you had for me. The worse part is there are almost certainly many others who've seen this and chosen not to comment. I appreciate what you've all said. I'll contact the sisters and make this right if I can. I know that won't change anything but you've forced me to see something in myself I really don't like. Thank you. I just sent this email to Sumie. Dear Sumie. I feel shame that I asked for my money back. I was wrong. Please do not send it back. I made a deal and I want to do this little bit to show my sorrow. Sincerely, Steven Bone
  14. That didn't last long... And sadly neither will your reputation in this very small circle of buyers and sellers. I'm not trying to be mean, but there is a lot of trust in this environment (shipping a sword thousands of miles based on a payment that could potentially be reversed or paying thousands of dollars when the sword is not in hand) and whether buying or selling a reputation is something hugely important. When I first saw your comment, I thought, "You know what, maybe a hasty decision, but you have to respect the guy's integrity." Now, if I am ever selling something that you offer to buy; I will, as will most, remember this post. Having the two of you chastise me so thoroughly is frankly very upsetting. To make a mistake that follows me for the rest of my life was something I certainly never considered. If you look at my ebay account I think you'll see this is just one time against many, many positive experiences. Is there any way to make up for this?
  15. Not anymore. i put down 10 percent and have asked for it back based on the comments here. Probably won't get it but it's worth a shot. Now about that tachi...
  16. No problems Dave. It happens. Ok. Best thread ever.
  17. Who is Atti or Anatti? -ANTTI  Sorry Anthill. I'm terrible with names. I just wanted you to know I respected your views. Not like I know what I'm talking about. That's why I depend on these guys.
  18. Well they accepted my offer so... I don't renig on my offers. I'll soon be the proud owner of this blade. But for 15000yen not 300k.
  19. Before I let this thread die, any of the big boys want to weigh in?
  20. and the seller is usagayia. Never bought anything from them. always seem overpriced to me.
  21. Everyone keeps telling to find a wak to save. (I prefer katanas but I already have a beauty.)Still where are these wonderful waks I keep hearing about?
  22. Convinced. Thanks guys!
  23. My judgment is, of course, clouded by the fact that I own this piece. That being said I agree that simple agrees with me more than gaudy which many tsuba I consider to be. Still... I can see the beauty in the complexity of a finely wrought tsuba. Fords evaluation made me take a second and third look at my piece. The fine use of the chisel to go from wide to thin in very hard steel is very obviously a skill that a beginner would be unlikely to have. Still congratulations Atti. You're not really wrong about this, you just don't find this style attractive as obviously many others with lot's of experience agree.
  24. well I made an offer of less than half the asking price. It's mid 14th century and I don't intend to ever have it polished. I just feel it's an artifact worth saving... but at minimal cost. Still I understand your disdain. This blade will never be a "collectors" item again. But I'd sure hate to see something this old and well made being used by a modern samurai whacking innocent bushes with it.
  25. Thank you Paul and I agree with your assesment. I'm just not financially in a position to purchase it. The price puts it out of my reach to simply save it. I certainly hope someone else does though.
