    GOTO ICHIJO

I may have misunderstood your post. clarify for me. You have one for sale, or this is like the one for sale on AOI's website? the boston museum one looks nicer to me. and $17k for the aoi tsuba????? I think I will keep searching for a matching tsuba for my heron set....
  2. I agree with Ron. This does not have to be a political left or right bashing, but it does have to do with politics and law in the purest form. If you want something done, you must tell those elected. Left right middle doesn't matter, you have to speak up. That is not political in a negative way, but political in a pure non biased way. If you have feelings about something it is your right and/or duty to let you voice be heard. I will be contacting my representatives this week. You have a choice also. sit idly by and say nothing or say something. Your choice to do either.
  3. It has the shin gunto tsuba, seppa, and tsuka. The scabbards look like retro fit and probably had a leather cover at one time. the only main differance was the black same on the tsuka instead of white.
  4. Curious because I have seen 2 swords I am 100% certain are real with ancestral blades, that have the shingunto tsuba, but black same not white. My Military sword book by Fuller does not address this.

  6. only if it is a nicer one LOL
  7. would you really say rolex timex? or closer to rolex vs omega? some Iai blades seem to have alot of features just not 100% art. I think your comparison really seems to undervalue the traditional work, maybe more fitting to compare that with crappier reproductions.
  8. This thread may be in refrence to his koto sword he had. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8548&p=70392#p70392 as you can see it has active rust and spiderwebing. perhaps someone here has an opinion on this sword that would help him
  9. Happens to everyone. I use firewalls and filters, and all my passwords contain Upper lower, numbers and special characters, and recently someone still managed to steal my paypal info and drain my bank account.
  10. did we ever figure this one out?
  11. Pwazamo luckily did post the scammer in their listings.
  12. I knew that looked familiaer. i was searching ebay everywhere to see if I could find this sword. Yes ol' novak.
  13. I don't think gimei means worthless or don't buy it at all. Perhaps it is originally mumei but very nice. judge the blade, then judge the koshirae. If you have a great tsuba, and fittings it could be more valuable than the asking price of a gimei blade. Gimei means the signature is a forgery and that is all it means.
  14. one man's junk is another man's treasure bob. And seeing as a blade bought for $200 could easily double or triple on ebay I would say thats a mighty fine piece of return on "junk". on another side note, at one time someone cared alot about that blade. and it has been around a long time. alot longer than you or anyone here. give the junk a little repect. I only showed what I had because I liked it. If you have a problem with my sword then say it with some tact or don't say anything at all. people like you are the reason new people don't want to buy anything or are too scared to show something they like. try being constructive instead of destructive. These swords many times were much more than a piece of iron to the owner. so excuse me if I care or enjoy or like a piece of history at a great preice. Quit killing the futures collectors enjoyment and instead nurture it.
  15. simple. antique ww2 Japanese sword samurai gunto shin gunto any combination of those words. If you can get the mei translated it would help to pinpoint which smith did it. there is a huge market on ebay right now for these swords especially if the fittings are ok. Beats me as I have seen them go higher than a nice koto or shinto sword. i just don't have 2k to drop on one on ebay.
  16. not sure, but seems like ebay is selling them like hot cakes. just take lots of pictures of the blade, lots of pictures of the mei, and show alot of pictures of the mounts. shouldn't be hard to get ur money back. But at the end of the day it's a gamble, sometimes the seki ones sell for 1k sometimes for $3-$400.
  17. nothing on that blade says rai to me
  18. Kool, def wasn't being misleading just found it on a website for the pawn shop and better for me to buy it from their link instead of over the phone. They changed the price for me on the ad and bam I bought it and got the buyer protection incase something happened. With 1500 members I could care less who sees what I buy where. I have nothing to hide, and infact usually am dumb enough to post my stuff here. I also have posted my link to photobucket with all me nihonto "junk". My only worry is..... why would anyone care where i buy it...........? no need for me to link to the auction because it was irrelevant when i used my own pictures.
  19. That is a pawn shop, They posted it here : http://ccpawn.com/store_grantspass.php and I called and asked for a picture. I made an offer to the manager and bam Got it! They also list the stuff to sell on ebay, and it is the best way to buy for me cuz I get paypal protection. nice try though guys. Thank you for your research tho mr. ayasugihada @ gmail.com all you had to do was ask. please sign ur posts with ur name per the rules
  20. Well the polish is not so much for the grain or jigane, it would be to reshape it and get the lines sharp. Something maybe to hold on to for a while. or maybe Throw it on ebay and use the money to buy some more fittings for my other nihonto. But I like old swords, I swear they speak to me lol........................
  21. looks western steel forged in the pics on the auction.
  22. You may be right about the cost of the polish, but at the end of the day if I buy one I am buying one that is already preserved. The history behind these blades is a big attraction point to me. While monetarily it may not recoup 100% of the cost of a polish this year or next it will restore the blade and preserve it for the next generation. And I am sure if we are still around as a species in 50-100 years, someone, somewhere will be happy to have it in full polish.
  23. With as white as the blade is and how badly it obscures the details and the hamon I am thinking someone practised polishing with it, or thought they could finger stone it. In the light and at the right angle alot is seen. Then hamon even with the weird polish obscuring the work is at least 1/4 of an inch in the thinest place so, I feel it can take a polish. We will see.
  24. It really isn't tired. My pictures are horrible. This was found at a pawn shop and they didnt know what they had. It looks koto to me, so for the price I snatched it up. there are two or 3 little ware thats it. I will most likely send it to polish, as it looks like whoever had it before was hitting it with a finger stone or practicing on it. I really wisj I knew how to take pictures. But at the end of the day a full katana with silver habaki and nice shirasaya for $200.00 is a deal to me.
