Hi,

Im a bit curious about this katana I bought on an auction in Sweden some time ago. It has a signature on the side telling its intended as a katana. The signature says something like "Universe shines in many rice fields" and my investigations have shown me theres a place in Nagano called "The moon shines in many rice fields", soo anyone knowing something about it?

Please see the pictures enclosed.

Regards /Mikael

Guest Simon Rowson

The Wikipedia biog says she got divorced this month (2 March 2007).

Maybe she forged the sword to use on her ex-husband?

("Hell hath no fury...." etc)

the blade has a nice sori and much better than chinese copy kissaki, it may have been made in Nippon, at least is better than the really junky Crappers on ebay.

Yep I agree Stephen... real definition there as opposed to the crappers... I still do not see a yokote and the mei looks a bit dremel'ly to me.....

Sad day when we are grading the quality of a crapper!!!

Cheers!

That was a lot of info, thanks all you guys, altough it

wasnt really the info i wished for :-(, especially that signature

being a singer, what a joke...

I guess this sword doesnt have the standard for this forum, so excuse me for that, however it has a hardening line (guess its called hamom) that is visible, but hard to catch on picture. Its supposed to be a damascus blade, is that true?

I am sorry for that. It might be only a joke. Or the mei was intended to be "Uta Kunimitsu (宇多國光) and failed to be inscribed correctly. :doubt:
