Stephen Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Not sure if this is just a ask for help or a scam, Anyone else get this? Dear Stephen, I am Andrea from Venice, Italy. I found your e-mail address in the net in a website where it is written about Japanese blades. I ask you if you could help me,as you are a great expert (i wish), to know a bit more about the history of the blade that I have. I am a beginner and I hope you will help me in finding some news about my blade. I sent you some pictures of the nagako and the blade. Best regards, Andrea This is a Jumbo Mail, xxxxx@libero.it sent to you to share * _MG_9156.JPG (4941788 byte) * IMG_9148.JPG (5030976 byte) * _MG_9133.JPG (7128699 byte) * _MG_9122.JPG (3274604 byte) * _MG_9163.JPG (3585043 byte) * _MG_9162.JPG (3683459 byte) You can download the files by clicking on following URL: http://jumbomail.libero.it/r?d=libero.i ... vs22334451 The content will be available only before 21.07.2010 at 00:44. Rich S Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I haven't gotten that email, but I make it a policy NEVER to click on an unknown link sent by an anonymous person or anyone that I don't know. Best way to avoid viruses, etc. Better safe than sorry. Rich S Quote
george trotter Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Stephen, chances are he got your details off this board...if so, why didn't he just post his stuff on the board he has been watching? Like Richard said, I wouldn't trust it either. Regards, Geo. Quote
Justin Grant Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Since I am at work, and have every AV tool known to mankind, I opened the link and the photos. They are "virus" free. I opened each of them except for the zip file. Each image is 3.5+ MB each, this may be why they used Jumbo Mail to post the pictures. The nakago has a large inscription, to which, I am not qualified to read. Justin Quote
Stephen Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Thanks Justin seems i cant open the file to help him out. Ill email him back to let him know. Quote
Justin Grant Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I will grab them, resize them, and post here. Give me a few. Quote
Justin Grant Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Well, that did not work. I get an error message in Italian, and I assume it says we can't download more than 4 images and I got all of the blade pictures but not the inscription... The last photo... Sorry. Quote

Kevin Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Hi Stephen I think it's a guy I know, in which case he's kosher. Leastways I know an Andrea who has an email ending like that who is into swords. He's on the Italian nihonto forum. Kevin Quote

cspage Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Of course he was, but we can't let it go to his head, n'est ce pas? Sorry, the sun came out here last week after eternal winter and spring of grey gloomy extremely wet weather. Makes one giddy and glib. No more jibes. Back to topic. Colin P.S. Stephen did help me out last year, too, for which I am grateful. Quote
