MikeDavis518 Posted Sunday at 08:29 PM Report Posted Sunday at 08:29 PM Can someone tell me what era this maybe from and translate the text? Quote
John C Posted Sunday at 09:32 PM Report Posted Sunday at 09:32 PM Michael: Not sure that it is Japanese. Writing seems off to me. But I'll reserve judgement and wait for the translators. Also, the sword appears, from the limited photos, to be a reproduction. The wrap on the handle is done in the Chinese style and the nakago ?? looks rough. Additionally, the seppa (or whichever that part is with the writing) opening is cut very roughly. Better photos of the entire sword may lend more answers. John C. 1 Quote

Grey Doffin Posted yesterday at 12:37 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:37 AM Spoiler I also doubt that this is Japanese; sorry. Grey 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM We have a couple guys who can translate Chinese - @BANGBANGSAN @xiayang Ito wrap is in the 1-directional Chinese style, too. Quote
xiayang Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM (edited) At least it pretends to be Japanese... The inscription on the tsuba reads: 近江守長幸作 = Ōmi no Kami Nagayuki saku Edited yesterday at 12:55 AM by xiayang 2 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:13 AM On the tsuba in jiantizi, simplified Chinese characters. Quote
BANGBANGSAN Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Report Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM The inscription reads like Simplified Chinese for '近江守长幸作', but honestly, it’s just a Japanese wannabe. 3 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted yesterday at 07:35 AM Report Posted yesterday at 07:35 AM I would have expected this post in the TRANSLATION section, as the title implies. Quote
Brian Posted yesterday at 11:36 AM Report Posted yesterday at 11:36 AM Why would we fill the translation section with kanji that is on a fake? Translating fake items is pointless once they are identified. 3 Quote
