Lindus Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 It has been a number of years since my last visit to the site, in that time we {Wife and I} have made some major changes and sold much of my collectio but while clearing many photo albums dating from the 70's to 90's I came across a load of pictures of the Ron Gregory collection. We first met and became friends way back, every time we had a chance Sue & I visited Ron and Betty, to a collector his Oshigata books and generous access to his collection made dear old Ron a world wide magnet to those interested in Nihonto. Many of you out there sent oshigata and knew him only by his replies......so..... I have published all the picture on my web site, you may recognise his swords, even own one...... As well are pictures of my early sword collection {Over 200 at one period} and a large number of oshigata to view, would be interested if you now own any as they are despersed world wide. Finally a Showa blade by Nagamura Kiyonobu that I had the now Famous Ford Hallem build a full set of Kosherei in the theme of pond life. All this is just a bit of fun, have a look when yopu have an idle moment, the links are mid section of the index page, just click on the stars....my apologies for the site,I made it and am at 67 still in the Luddite mode................... http://www.collectorsloot.homestead.com Regards Roy Quote
John A Stuart Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Hi Roy, I hadn't checked out your site for awhile, so, it was nice to see these new pics. Ron Gregory certainly had a comprehensive collection and could have used a bigger room. Something most of us find disconcerting, the lack of space. John Quote
Lindus Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Hi John You are not the Canadian collector in Rons room by any chance?. Roy Quote
Toryu2020 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Lovely site - especially like the Kiyonobu koshirae - an interesting theme freshly presented Mr Hallem is a real talent, and you deserve some credit for inspiring him. Thanks for sharing this, -tom Quote
DirkO Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Hi Roy, It's always nice when someone shares something like this I know your site well and would compare it to a bazar in the middle east : it's not always the most tidy place, but there are suprises around every corner... Quote

Brian Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Hi, Not to offend at all, but for those that may have "had a few" ..... I believe this is for those who don't speak "rushed and rambling net-speak".. I had an email from a chap in ..???.. He says that this is a sad hobby..... Well, I have made many friends around the world through it (Nihonto hobby) and I can translate in the most difficult language in the universe. I have Traveled to Japan and China, have a house full of vibrant art that spawned Art Nouveau, and I cannot see that statement as being correct. As an investment in both time and money it has worked out very well... Correct? Brian Quote
