Winchester Posted September 1, 2021 Report Posted September 1, 2021 Second sword I bought ( I just started collecting in April of 2021). Not as described...Tons of old blemishes on scabbard...blade is good and has a Mon...wire wrapping on handle is bad; still has WWII tag on it and homemade box it was shipped back with. I am a new collector, please go easy on me. What would you do? Thank you Quote
ChrisW Posted September 1, 2021 Report Posted September 1, 2021 Hey Brian, Mind if we get some pictures? That would go a long way towards some recommendations that could be put forward! 2 Quote
Winchester Posted September 1, 2021 Author Report Posted September 1, 2021 I will add momentarily. Kind regards, Brian Quote
Winchester Posted September 1, 2021 Author Report Posted September 1, 2021 Here you go...scabbard is rusty but I cleaned it...blade is like 90%. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted September 1, 2021 Report Posted September 1, 2021 Brian, I don't understand what you are asking. Looks like a nice representative of the Type19. If it fits your collecting goals, keep and enjoy! Are you asking about further cleaning? 2 Quote
Winchester Posted September 2, 2021 Author Report Posted September 2, 2021 Sorry my post was a bit confusing. The scabbard is bad and to replace I'm probably sending good money after bad. The wiring on the handle is loose. Is there a way to fix or replace? This deal just left a bad taste in my mouth unfortunately. Quote
lonely panet Posted September 2, 2021 Report Posted September 2, 2021 its a dress version, so its so common and affordable you could either replace it or butcher one for parts. but be warned the wire will be brittle when re wrapping 2 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 H is right, there is not much point restoring these as really good examples are plentiful and nobody wants one that has been tampered with. Keep it and sell it for a better one or get your money back. What this does have going for it is the officers tag, perhaps getting that translated first will determine what you want to do with it. 2 Quote
