Ugly duckling what would you do? Kyu gunto

Second sword I bought ( I just started collecting in April of 2021). Not as described...Tons of old blemishes on scabbard...blade is good and has a Mon...wire wrapping on handle is bad; still has WWII tag on it and homemade box it was shipped back with. I am a new  collector, please go easy on me. What would you do? Thank you

Here you go...scabbard is rusty but I cleaned it...blade is like 90%.

I don't understand what you are asking.  Looks like a nice representative of the Type19.  If it fits your collecting goals, keep and enjoy!  Are you asking about further cleaning?

Sorry my post was a bit confusing. The scabbard is bad and to replace I'm probably sending good money after bad. 

 

The wiring on the handle is loose. Is there a way to fix or replace?

 

This deal just left a bad taste in my mouth unfortunately.

its a dress version, so its so common and affordable you could either replace it or butcher  one for parts. but be warned the wire will be brittle when re wrapping

H is right, there is not much point restoring these as really good examples are plentiful and nobody wants one that has been tampered with. Keep it and sell it for a better one or get your money back. What this does have going for it is the officers tag, perhaps getting that translated first will determine what you want to do with it.
